I've just discovered the AAA CAS and Nearly CAS card challenge blog. Their current challenge is Blue Christmas - blue is my favourite colour so I had to play along. I'm also inspired to do another card or two for this week's SCS CAS challenge "Lovely as a Tree" as I love Christmas cards with trees on them.
And all this led to a good opportunity to ink up a never-before-used stamp I've had for awhile.
I got a great tip from someone's card on SCS in the last few months - for stamps with a large solid area (like the one I used here - the blue sky is the positive part of the stamp - the trees and bird are the negative part), it's easier to ink up with a few tones of the same colour, rather than trying to get even coverage with just one ink. I'd like to give credit for the idea but can't remember who it was?
So I used three shades of blue Distress ink and got okay coverage that way. I kept the blue theme by bordering the image and sentiment with a darker blue. And added some light blue and clear gemstones.
Edit: Just remembered it was fionna51 who gave the tip about the ink pads - in her card here, she used more varied colours than I did so next time, I'll try that:

This type of stamp is a challenge sometime isn't it? Thanks for passing on that tip. Love your blues! This stamp looks its best framed simply I think and you have done a lovely job in letting it shine! Great card!

This is fantastic Susan! Thanks so much for the tip too. I have a few of those and have avoided them. I love the blues on this and the wonderful way you embellished your sky, like twinkling stars!
Hi, thanks for finding us and playing along! These tree stamps are wonderful and soooo versatile. You've created a lovely card, thanks again and Merry Christmas. Victoria Lavender- AAA Cards
