Maryann's challenge to the CCEE Stampers this week is to use photos or photography-related stamps on our cards. I used to use my photos much more! My favourite stamp is a Penny Black one with mice - but making this View-Master card (tutorial HERE was easy to combine with Cathy's fun WTUI challenge for us this week, which is to Make It With Metal.
I started with a 5 3/4" square base for this, but in the end it didn't work with the tree-trunk idea so I trimmed some off the side. Anyway - the base layer was sponged with Peeled Paint distress stain and then stamped with French Foliage in a couple of colours. I used 4 different owls on my wheel - you can see them all on the CCEE Stampers blog linked above; I took the photos on an outing for my birthday a couple of years ago. For the "tree" I painted a piece of card with brown acrylic, then used a TCW stencil with modelling paste which I sponged with Walnut Stain ink when it was dry. I added a button and a couple of leaves to cover up the brad from the wheel mechanism.(Normally I use a paper pivot which does away with needing a brad and any disguise, but since I knew I wanted to add my leaves, the brad is easier and quicker). The leaves are cut from a foil pie plate, crumpled a bit, coloured with alcohol inks and then finished off with some distress stickles.
And my glue-gun died when I went to stick them on, tripping the main trip-switch and blowing two fuses. So they are temporarily attached with glue dots.

Wonderful card, Sabrina! The green bkgrd paper is perfect for your fantastic woodgrain. You did fantastic work on the leaves, they're amazing. Neat that the card has an interactive wheel w/the four owl pics. I like them all but I'd say my fav is the snowy owl.
