One of my favorite card artists (because she is more than a card maker) is Birgit. In one of she latest blogs she die cut some leaves using encaustic backgrounds. Well that got me thinkingÂ…. I havenÂ’t used my encaustic waxes for a while so I broke them out.
I used six pieces of 4.5 x 6.5 encaustic cardstock with white, black, bronze and gold finishes. I used yellow, oranges, reds, gold, and brown waxes which I randomly smeared on the card stock. I polished the wax finished and put a clear sealer on it and let it dry over night.
On day 2, I pulled out a variety of leaf dies and cut out dozens of “fall” leaves. I used:
Paper Smooches – Leaves 1 Dies
Lawn Fawn – Stitched Leaves
MFT – Die-namics Falling Leaves
Memory Box Dies – Leaf Silhouette Die
Papertrey Ink – Leaf Prints Die Collection
The Sentiments are from SSS – Thanksgiving Table (Small Thanks), Winnie and Walters -Big, Bold You (Large Thanks) and Paper Wishes – Seasons (Thankful for Fall).
When making the cards, I pulled a neutral cardstock pallet. I decorated the cards with burlap ribbon (MichelaÂ’s), assorted gems, twine, and distress stains. In total I made 17 various cards. I tried to switch them up, so no two cards are identical.
