WooHoo our Teapot recipient this week is Miss Myrtle from Indiana. Myrtle is about to celebrate her 104th birthday. The story this week was wonderful, resulting in a request to bring all sorts of fun beach things including hula dancers.
We were given a heads-up about this weeks party...get ready for a teaparty to celebrate a 104th birthday says Sheri. Of the 42,000 things you could do on your 104th birthday I would never had guessed a Luau. I pictured a serene vintage card complete with soft and feminine flowers. I sure had to switch gears when I read the challenge!!
Here we have Penny, Polly, Poppy and Aguppie, hula dancing at Myrtle Beach. The girls all started out life as Scrappin' Doodle digi stamps, as did the palm trees. I am progressing with my copic colouring. The girls are 100% copiced. Everything was going fine, Penny, Polly and Poppy looked good. Then it was Aguppies turn to have her hair done. I thought I would try a little water colouring.....yep you guessed it, too much water and the top half of her head fell off. Time was not on my side this week so I quickly fashioned a hat for her and relegated Aguppie to the back row. The greannery on the palm trees are paper pieced.
Aguppies head was not the only mishap this week. Have you noticed that none of the girls have arms (it is impossible to fussy cut stick figure arms). Only Penny has legs and feet. I was trying to curl the girls hula skirts, so I snipped the skirts and very gently dunked them in a bowl of water (can't find my water mister). I then got out my new heat gun and dried them. The heat gun was so powerful that little Polly and Poppy had their legs blown completely off. Thankfully I had learnt my lesson by the time I got to Penny, and it is for that reason alone that she is at the front. Aguppie was already a lost cause, so I just cut her legs off and modified her skirt to fit nicely at the back.
I spruced up the girls and trees with some glitter and stickles. I handmade the sign - Myrtle Beach.
Thank you for looking and have a great week AND before I go, a huge thank you for all the amazing cards and beautiful words during my reign as Queen for the Day. I am still shocked!! I am also grateful and humbled by your friendship. xx
Edit: I have just seen the picture and it looks like Polly has a moustache, it is just a shadow from Pennys hair...whew, glad we cleared that up.

Susie, this is yet another wonderful card!! I'm loving your hula skirted ladies at Myrtle Beach and they are so beautifully coloured using your copics. I do get quite a joy out of reading your descriptions and your so called "mishaps" - you would never notice about Aguppie's hair as the hat looks as though it is meant to be there. Love your paper pieced trees, too!!

Your card is so darling Susie!! I saw the 104th birthday and that drew me in to read everything you wrote - I am so glad I did. You are too cute and funny - blowing the legs clean off. :>) I suppose there were some frustrations creating this card, but I tell you the outcome was so worth it. Wonderfully sweet!! :>)

Susie it is quite the operation when you set out to create these wonderful step cards. I LOVE that your don't let anything discourage you, like legs getting blown off. You just keep moving forward with fabulous results. After all, who need arms or legs for that matter! hehe Your write up just made me chuckle out loud. So glad you added the edit about the mustache. I thought perhaps you had gone off the deep end with this one. hehe Just kidding! LOVE this OTT Wonderful card Susie. WOW! TFS :0)

Wow Susie! Another phenomenal creation! This is adorable and once again your creativity is absolutely amazing! I am intrigued by your ability to design dimensional cards. Your description just started my day with a huge smile too! I think we can all relate to the mini disasters of stamping. Thanks again for sharing your fabulous talent for card making as well as your too funny narrative that none of us want to miss!

Adorbs!!! Your hula ladies are so CUTE!!! I think you colored them perfectly and Aguppie's hair probably just doesn't like the humidity! LOL Now as for the arms, legs and partial head amputations....Are we going to have to send Special Crafter's Services out to visit you?!! LOL If they did visit, they would probably ask you to make them each a card too! They are ALWAYS amazing!!!
LOVE it all, especially the Myrtle Beach sign, so VERY clever!!!
