Today's LOVE FEST Challenge is to spread some love, "We all need love and support, and what better way to make someone's day than a beautiful handmade card? With your upload, please explain who you made the card for, and why." I've been wanting to make another card for my mom. Her journey with breast cancer has been a difficult one. Not too long after Christmas they discovered that she had metastases in her spine. She had to go back on radiation treatments and chemo. She has had a much harder time tolerating the treatments this time around and the other day she shared with me that if there isn't significant improvement in the spinal lesion she is considering stopping chemo altogether. Wow! I sure wasn't ready for that and it is a real measure of how much she's struggling with this new treatment regimen. All this to say, she, I and our whole family could use encouragement right about now. The best place I know is in God's Word so I wanted to feature a Scripture verse.
I have had this piece of paper sitting around for months and thought it might make a nice backdrop for today's sketch. I only had to tweak the sketch a tiny bit, moving my horizontal elements up a bit. I wanted to keep as much of the pretty dp showing as possible, so instead of a solid vertical piece I went for a sheer ribbon (it isn't as yellow IRL). I die cut my leaves in Chocolate Chip and used them as my horizontal piece and as an accent on my verse. I kept my verse in the die and sponged the pinks and blue around the edges. I punched my flowers from a polished stone paper I'd made earlier and added pearl centers.

Gail, my heart goes out to you as you support and love your Mum through this....may the Truth of these words hold you up. This is so incredibly beautiful and the cherry blossoms seem to represent spring and hope both...such a lovely creation.

My mother and I are survivors, but we can sympathicize with what is happening, not only to her, but all of you. I would happily send a card of encouragement to her, Gail. Please pm me her address if you think it would help. Hugs.
