I'm a newbie to all of this and yes...I could've sworn gesso was a cheese. I'm in love with everything about stamping and this community is the best!
I have fallen in love with the work of Shadow's Mom and have been stalking her blog. This is the first original work I've done and am calling it 'Homage to Creatively LA' in appreciation for her courageous designs. Thanks to all of you too...you continue to teach me and I admire all of the artists here!
First, I applied clear gesso then I distressed the Kraft Resist paper and inked with the walnut stain. I used a small paint brush to apply the faded jeans ink to the butterfly and flower stamp then used clear embossing powder on it. The sentiment was embossed with black powder. I stamped the larger butterfly with the Stampabilities stamp, cut it out and covered it with the symphony tape. The smaller is the middle butterfly from the three butterfly stamp from the Boundless Flight stamp, cut out and painted with reinkers. Both butterflies were mounted with foam dots. I used 3 rhinestones to satisfy the yin/yang theme.

So glad you joined along! You may not have known what Gesso was to start....but you sure put it to good use once you figured it out! Love the staining and distressing that adds nice depth to your pretty card. Welcome to the site and challenges....if you're like me you'll be addicted quickly.
