Hello everyone! ItÂ’s time for another Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge! A while back I was asked to be the Guest Designer for the Timeless Tuesday challenge this month and oh what fun this has been! This week the challenge is Non Traditional Christmas. You have to create a Christmas or holiday themed card using a non-traditional color schemeÂ….so no red or green! I found out that it is more difficult than it soundedÂ….lol! I ended up using teal blue and pink. Now, my dear artsy SIL reminded me that teal and pink are descendants of red and green but I am going to plead my case that this is NOT the traditional red and green color schemeÂ…lol! That is my story and I am sticking to it, Your Honor. Anyways, this GORGEOUS stamp set is called Dove and Holly and reminds me of vintage Christmas cards and all of the lovely silver, sparkly, muted colors that one would see during that time. I can just imagine tinsel and angel hair nowÂ….oooo, I am really dating myself! LOL! We would love to see what all of you come up with, so come on over and play along this week! If you link up your creation you could win a prize! You can find all of the details here: (http://flourishes.org/category/chall...eless-tuesday/ ). Now on to my cardÂ…
I stamped my doves using Memento’s Espresso Truffle ink on Flourishes Classic Ivory card stock and colored it in with Copics. Next, I took a deep breath, said a little prayer, and took a pair of scissors to my colored image so I could use the “Out of the box with Nestabilities” technique with one of my Spellbinders dies. In retrospect, I would probably do this step first before you spend a lot of time coloring…just in case…..but it ended up ok, so all is good. I love how the image extends outside of the die cut with this technique. You can find a tutorial by Diane Zechman on SCS using this technique here: (Out Of The Box With Nestabilities Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers ). Next, I sponged a little antiquing ink on my colored image before removing it from the die. I stamped my sentiment on a little banner, and edged it with some glitter. Next, I embossed an ivory panel and attached it to a teal blue card base. I die cut some dp with another spellbinder die and attached my die cuts and banner using some foam dimensionals, then finished it off with a big bow! I cannot wait to see what everyone else comes up with! A very special thank you to Flourishes for asking me to be the Guest Designer for the Timeless Tuesday Challenge this month! Yep, I am still on cloud nine! Hope you have a great day and thanks for looking!

My oh my, if this isn't one drop dead gorgeous card. You have outdone yourself my friend. The image hanging over the edge of the die is just perfection, as is the textured background and ribbon. Congrats on being a guest designer, you are perfect for this. Hugs.

Your image is incredibly beautiful, and the colors look so life like. Love-love-love the out of the box technique, not to mention the perfectly tied big honkin' bow! Perfection on paper Missy, and your photography sure brings out the beauty of your work. Hugs......

Love, love, love it, Katie! I love your beautiful bow, and that embossing background is the perfect touch of elegance! The birds and holly are wonderfully colored in and I love the soft way you shaded them But my favorite detail is the glitter edge on your fish tail tag - Love it! I may "borrow" that idea sometime
Great card Katie, it's absolutely stunning
