| | I have been wanting to make an Advent calendar that actually holds a treat, and I came up with this - the retired #2 Box Sizzix XL die. Mostly SU, although I did use some non SU buttons, ribbons and things I had on hand. I cut a piece of wood to exactly fit behind the lip of my bookshelf, so I don't need to screw it in or clamp it (Photo has it on mantel, but I don't think I would be safe there fully loaded). 1 1/2" #8 screws with large rhinestones to hang the boxes. Retired SU eyelets for the top to put the ribbon through. You can't see it well but I heat embossed the sides with Jolly Jingle Bits or a few with numbers of the day before I assembled the boxes.
If I were doing it all over again, I would use the back of the boxes as the main front, so you wouldn't see the seam. It ended up being quite an undertaking - by about box number 12, I got into the theming and making each box a little story. Maybe I will go back and do some of the early ones over, but not this year - this took a while. Additional close up photos in my gallery. TFL
