CCREW1012DF Fall Blessings

Photo Details
Poster: KY Southern Belle

Hi friends. Here is my card for the October 2012 Creative Crew Challenge where we have a designer series paper/color focus, which are the fall colors as seen in the Orchard Harvest designer series paper of Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Island Indigo, More Mustard, Lucky Limeade and Raspberry Ripple. Our assignment was to use at least 3 of the above colors.

However, with all of the projects that the Creative Crew is presenting to you this month, they all will be stepped up. We'll be showcasing to you clean and simple cards and then stepping them up; perfect inspiration for your fall classes and workshops.

With my cards, I used the Full of Blessings and Wonderfall stamp sets, both from the Holiday Catalog.

CLEAN & SIMPLE CARD: For my first card, where my rock 'n roll technique turned out a little too perfect and not random, I started out with an Early Espresso card stock base and used the Timber wheel in the background with Early Espresso ink. I rounded the corners on my card. I cut a piece of Confetti Cream card stock to 3-3/8 x 3-1/2, rounded the corners, and then stamped on the printed leaf from Wonderfall with More Mustard and Cajun Craze. My sentiment was stamped from Full of Blessings in Island Indigo ink. I tied a piece of Raspberry Ripple 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon centered around the card and tied into a bow towards the bottom of the card. I then adhered my image panel to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

STEPPED UP CARD: The Early Espresso card base was done the same way as my first card. I added Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper behind the sentiment this time by cutting two strips, the largest measuring 1-1/2 x 5-1/2 and then a complimentary strip that was punched with the Scallop Edge Border and adhered that under the leaf paper. I put a length of Raspberry Ripple around the center and adhered it to the right side of the card. For the image panel, I cut a piece of Confetti Cream card stock to 3-1/4 square, rounded the corners, stamped my leaf image in the center using Cajun Craze ink and Island Indigo for my sentiment. I then used a Sponge Dauber to lightly ink distress the edges with Sahara Sand. I applied Stampin' Dimensionals to the image panel and adhered it to the card. Of course I prefer the stepped up version as the designer series paper adds much more interest with the scalloped edge.

I hope that you enjoyed these cards and that they provide you with some inspiration.

Thank you so much for looking and God bless you! Have a great day!

We'd love to have you play along with our challenges this month so you can inspire the Creative Crew!

Both cards are wonderful. I like showing the simple version, which is lovely enough on its own, but then seeing how you can step it up is really nice. And sometimes you see things you never would have tried, i.e., Orchard Harvest strips that screams STEPPED UP.

Thanks for sharing lovely cards.

I really like both of your versions as they are both unique! Love the simplicity of the first, and the added colors in the second! TFS!
