This week our cards are going to a fellow SCS'er that just needs some general cheer and goodness in her life. Sonja (Soni B) had a very trying 2011, so we're on a mission to make 2012 better!
Let me start by saying that no matter how many photos I took of this card, none captured the real color. I am so disappointed. even with Photo Shop, I couldn't get it right. Sonja, if you see this now, just wait till you get it, it's so much better IRL!!
Okay, I just couldn't leave the bad photo on here, so I went in and took another 2 dozen more trying all kinds of different things. Hopefully this new photo shows a lot better than the old one. It's still better IRL, but at least now I'm happier with the new photo! She really is beautiful and I want that to show, not my bad photography skills! LOL
I went back and forth between this angel and another I did paper piecing. I love this pretty angel so it's the one I went with. Everything is done with the stem stitch, which is really easy. I did enlarge the pattern to 110%.
I used the beautiful rayon Sulky embroidery thread that has such a nice sheen to it. The wings are done with a thread that is pearlized. In the book, she is done all in gold, I went the distance and did her in many colors, with her gown 3 different shades of teal. Now when I think teal, I think of the dark color on mallard ducks. Thus the color of the main panel of c/s. This card has several shades of teal though.
The flowers are Cheery Lynn and cut from the Swiss Dots c/s. The hearts coming from the horn are the chads from the heart punch all over the page.
This angel is bugling the song of love all throughout the land and especially for Sonja!
Please keep in mind that this looks so much better IRL. TFL
