Half Die Cut fold technique

 I got these supplies at a recent Stampin' Up! event I was at. They taught us the technique of how to cut out only part of your die! Very cool! I never could visualize or understand how that was done. So glad I got to TRY it hands on!

Using the new Pines & Poinsettias stamp set.

Would you be able to explain? How do you keep it from cutting the other side of the fold? Is it a die cut or a punch? Looks like fun.
