This week the teapartiers are having a cookie walk. What fun and a great way to get a bigger variety of cookies for our munching enjoyment...as well as bigger hips..LOL!!! I'm here with my plate of cookies and my empty plate to pile high with everyone elses goodies...
Lorraine posted an adorable teapot for our inspiration or our card could be inspired by our favorite holiday cookie. Mine is both, the colors are taken from the teapot and the craziness from the recipe. The tag reads, "When life gets fruity". sorry didn't photograph well. Not a very functional card, but was fun to make...the rum page will be the inside of the card..
It also loosely fits the way to use it challenge this week to include recipe. my recipe isn't on my card yet but can be typed on the inside if I give these as Christmas gift...
This is a great tasting cookie for adult gatherings (baked, but not long enough for all the alcohol to cook out) and is my variation of a recipe found in a very old Southern Living Cookbook...
Sheri's Holiday Lizzies
1/3 cup butter or marjarine, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tbsp. milk
4 cups mixed dried fruits, any of the soft ones (not banana) and whatever mix you want is good
4 cups chopped pecans
2 (8 oz.) packages chopped dates
1/2 cup bourbon
Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy; add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well.
Combine flour and baking soda; add to butter mixture, blending well. Stir in milk. Add remaining ingredients, stirring until blended. Let dough stand 10 min.
Drop dough by heaping tsp. onto lightly greased baking sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for 14 to 16 min. or until lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 1 min.; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
Yield: 9 dozen
**note-there will be very little batter holding all the fruit and nuts together, this is normal.

I really like the way you've punched the circle border round the labels. Fun fruity card, and an interesting sounding recipe. I don't tend to have whiskey in the house, but I reckon it would work with rum too.

Good thing it makes 9 dozen, because I think these will be a big hit! LOVE your card - the details on your fruit are great - and the design of the whole card .... well I love it!

Sheri these sound great - I am confused though... the recipe says bourbon and the card says rum so do we add both? OMG - we will be so tipsy (lol). This does sound good - I may have to squeeze in some time on Xmas Eve to make them.
This card is so cute! I love all the fruit and the colors. Another amazing creation.
