Hello everyone, here I am at last. Boy am I late, nevertheless, happy to be here, with good and bad news! Lorraine (pidgesmom) is hosting our teapot party this week and we are invited to a Cookie walk, my first one. Thank you sweetie. The storyline is so much fun, you can read it here:
Yep, a Cookie walk, but my little Cindylou here, looks all smarty and savvy about something...the fact that she ate all my cookie dough and replaced it with a pot of soup is telling about this little "Miss Thang". To think I was up bright and early preparing it too. Aw well, it's a cool day anyway, and some homemade soup will make us warm after a play in the snow. Oh before I forget, don't look for Cindylou at the party, she is having a nap now, seems her little stomach couldn't take all that dough. I'm still scratching my head with wonder...how could she do away with all that. LOL
Old recipe from grandmother for Christmas cookies
Ingredients
2/3 cup (170 ml) crisco shortening*
2 1/4 cup(560 ml) flour
1/3 cup (85 ml) sugar
1 tsp.(5 ml) baking powder
1/3 cup (85 ml) brown sugar
1 tsp. (5 ml) baking soda
2 eggs
1/8 tsp.(0.5 ml) salt
1 tsp.(5 ml) vanilla extract
12 green cherries, diced
12 red cherries, diced
Preheat oven at375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, mix, shortening with flour, brown sugar, baking powder and baking soda. Then add the other ingredients and mix with wooden spoon. Use a cookie cutter, makes about 24 small cookies. Lay on pre-greased cookie sheet, .Cook at 375 for about 15 minutes. Cherries are for decorating only!!!
Cookies are very soft and tasty. Bon appetit!
*Tried it with butter, even tastier

That sneaky little Cindylou - those cookies sounded awesome too! But soup is good on a cold night. Soup and cookies and peppermint tea. Sounds like a three course meal in the works.
I just love all those layers of prints and patterns. A feast for the eyes!
So glad you joined the Cookie Walk/Tea Party this week! Those cookies would have been a hit too I'm sure.

It looks like Cindylou has whipped up a batch of polkadotted chicken soup! Yum! We better eat some healthy stuff at this shindig, too, or we're gonna have tummy aches just like Cindylou. Cute card, Peggy!
Beware: Bertie is enroute. Said she just HAD to see her Peg-a-roo! I think she's up to sumpin' with the Lumiere and paintbrush she "borrowed" from me. Don't let her lead you astray. :-)

Tut tut, CindyLou, you deserve a tummy-ache after eating all that cookie dough. But soup sounds quite good to me - I like sweet things in moderation, savoury is always welcome. This is fun and so festive looking with your colour scheme.
p.s. thanks for mentioning butter as an alternative. While I think I know what our equivalent to Crisco is, I am never 100% sure. Mind you, it's amazing the difference in texture that using different fats make in baking.

Dont you just love that image? Crystal sent me just 2 and I've been crying ever since! Your card is perfectly adorable. Hey, when you make your next batch of cookies, just send half to me. I dont cook, so there's not a snowball's chance in heck that I would ever taste your grandmother's cookies!
