Here is my card for the Tuesday Teapot Challenge.. we were to make a card showing the best or worst present we ever received and I think back to when I was little.. my 3 older brothers and I anticipated the night we would help Mom decorate the tree .. it was always when there would be a few Christmas cartoons on! The time we spent together was the best time ever, and if we had issues with each other earlier in the day you would never have known it that particular night! I loved hanging the candy canes and tinsel! ... and usually about the time we were finished we heard Santa exclaim "Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night" and off to bed we'd go.. and every Christmas Eve before I shut the tree lights out I say .. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night and I can hear myself giggling with my brothers so long ago as we raced each other to bed, a wonderful memory .. so I think the best present I ever received was what my Mom instilled in me about the magic of Christmas, Tradition, and Family.. Thanks Mom!
I've had a couple of questions on how to make the flower soft ... well, I received a link to the recipe from Terri AKA Bratcards *waving Hi to Terri* If you'd like to check out the link you can go here http://hogwildaboutstamping.blogspot.com .. it's listed under Sunday October 18th titled "Make your own FlowerSoft" and there's a video! I couldn't find the white at the Dollar Store but they did have green so my color was built right in... I still want to try using my reinkers though! In the video it shows that you place the flower soft in a baggie when using the reinkers and when I grated them together I just did it over a piece of wax paper..
So my Thanks to Terri for enabling me and to Hog Wild About Stamping for posting the Video Tutorial!

What a great story to go with your pretty card. My sister and I teased my brother every Christmas by singing We wish you a merry Christmas with a twist. We changed Merry Christmas to Hairy Whisker, and we changed and a Happy New Year to a Happy Big Beard. Good memories.

Ah, Sherri! You made me laugh and cry! I love your beautiful (and funny) Christmas memories. I smiled to read that your mom made Christmas 'magical' for you, because when I first saw your card, 'Magical'! is the first word that came to mind. I love your reindeer flight, and that fabulous felt ribbon- (kinda like 'feetie pajamas', 'member those? lol!) Thanks for sharing your wonderful work, and sweet memories.

We loved decorating the tree too (3 of us close in age). It became the focal point of our playing for a few days as we made little houses for our smaller toys and favourite decorations. And then on Christmas morning the other two used to come in to my room till it was time to go down for our stockings - sometimes WAY too early. And since sometimes the stairs would be booby-trapped with a light-triggered alarm, we couldn't risk going down. Thanks for bringing back those memories with your lovely nostalgic card.

"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!" Yep! Those are some mighty wonderful memories of some great family traditions!! I love your story!! Now, I need to remember to go to the dollar store and buy styrofoam balls so I can make some faux flower soft! I just paid six bucks a jar for that stuff!! Thanks for sharing your memories with us and for joining us at the tea party!!! This is a wonderful card and the story behind it makes it all the better!!!
