My 12 yo granddaughter did this card when she visited with me last week. With a little help, she did it all. I teach her a little something she's never done before each time. Most of the time it is a new technique. I base this pretty much on her age (maturity), skill level and ability before deciding what to introduce her to. This time she had a real learning curve!! I taught her layering, using the Nestabilities (my new toy!) and embossing, layered punches, masking, SAMJ, use of ribbons and using those beautiful little self-adhesive pearls.
She wanted to use pink and browns. One thing that came to my mind was the Rebecca Papers and curly chocolate ribbon. Much of what we used were retired SU, but I still love these things. Teaching her something different keeps her excited about coming over and increases her creative flair. So far, she feels like the focus is on 'new' stamps; but I'm showing her more techniques which I feel makes stamps become new again.
If you have a moment, please leave a comment. She loves to hear what you have to say and, personally, I think it keeps her interest at a high level to be creative. Thanks!
