For the sixth challenge of the January Mini “Crush” VSN, hostess Sara (Sarahenton) provided a picture of an ornate vintage chocolate box as the inspiration for a card.
As soon as I saw the mosaic design, I thought of the paper I’d used for a card several months ago. I had a large scrap left over of this pink, green, and ivory mosaic patterned paper. I wanted to add something to make it look “richer” so I ran it through the Cuttlebug and brushed the raised embossed image with gold ink. After edging it with gold, I mounted that on a textured gold card front with antique gold brads.
Over the mosaic I layered a panel of vellum edged in gold and over that, a ballerina cut from watercolor paper with a die and colored with Perfect Pearls to give it some shimmer. It was inspired by the central image on the candy box, which is a womanÂ’s head with flowing hair and flowers. I used a two step stamp set to stamp the flowers and leaves I used to embellish the ballerina.
I chose a rich arabesque ribbon threaded with gold for a knot, and put the knot through a heart of roses that I colored with gold ink.
