I made this card for the November VSN, “Cabaret” challenge created by Cav (Maggie’s Mummy).
Thoughtful Cav remembered the performers with a bouquet of flowers in her challenge, "Flowers – For Me?". And she chose – VERY appropriately, I might add – the Blue Dahlia…. yet again, another technique I’m just seeing for the first time! She linked us to a simple dimple tutorial and wow, this was a cinch of a card to make.
The double sided designer paper I have is heavy – it’s a lightweight card stock, not paper weight. I don’t think it lent itself to this as easily as “paper” weight paper would have, but I’m exhausted (we’re at the END – almost – of a very LONG Cabaret extravaganza, so maybe it’s just me being tired and cranky. Or maybe the circles are too small to do this easily? (I made them 2 inches and scalloped them.)
This dp is beyond gorgeous – I would have hated to cover it up with a huge flower, so I made a partially open dahlia bud instead.
This paper was given to me as a gift by one of my best friends and my scrapping buddy, Robyn B. She finds the most glorious papers, donÂ’t you agree??!! Thanks Robyn!

Cathy, I love the blues in this. I also like how you made a stage bouquet of the dahlias. (Methinks you received a many of them!). Love the lacey border.

This beautiful card evokes thoughts of a garden by the sea. I love the pretty punched borders. I love your Dahlia buds, I chose the buds for my card too! I love the sparkles here and there, like the sun on the water. A beautiful creation and thanks for playing!

Well isn't this just the sweetest thing ever?!! Your colors are gorgeous, and that dahlia bouquet is stunning. I am in love with that Martha Stewart border punch, aren't you? Thanks for sharing tonight - love it!
