September 11th is a day that is now synonymous with the tragic events that occurred in 13 years ago on the East Coast of the US. This week's challenge is inspired by the heroes that emerged from the rubble of that fateful day.
To honor our heroes, we erect monuments and statues. To ensure those tributes last, we make them out of stone, granite, marble, and other hardened products that will stand the test of time, so that we never forget these great men and women who have inspired and sacrificed for us.
For this challenge, I want you to use granite, marble, or stone in your project. There are several techniques to get that texture. You may want to try the Polished Stone technique, Rolling Marble technique, or Faux Shaving Cream technique, to just name a couple.
Or maybe you'd like to try using digital papers or elements? In the spirit of giving and helping our neighbors that this day inspired, I have two gifts for you if you would like to try the digital world:
A set of digital papers that can be downloaded HERE.
Don't forget to put WT496 in the keyword when uploading your project, so we can see your monumental creations HERE.
Sabrina and I have a couple samples to get you started. Sabrina went outside the box to make her background look like stone, and used Dina's recent Sanded Pencil Background. With her brick embossing folder, it totally looks like real brick!
My samples are total opposite ends of the spectrum - I have a two-page scrapbook page layout using the digital papers and buttons I made for you that commemorates my recent trip to the Flight 93 Memorial in Pennsylvania, and I have drink tags and recipes made with the same papers from a neighborhood block party this past weekend. My scrapbook page is my personal tribute to those brave heroes, and my drink recipes using the exact same papers celebrate the life that they have allowed me to live with their sacrifice. Freedom is something that should be celebrated, and life should be lived to its fullest as you never know when your last memory will be made. Today, above all, is a reminder of that, so enjoy it!
I can't wait to see what you create!

Thank you for a wonderful, thoughtful challenge for today! Will be praying for our nation, our soldiers, and for the families who are mourning. God bless, everyone!!
This is the perfect day (and of course every day), to remember our heroes. Especially for September 11th tragedies. I really wanted this to stand out, so used a marble dp, with gold and silver highlights.

Michelle- great challenge! I used grey and blue fabric that hinted at a rock face, along with quartz flecked patterned dp for my flag waving girl. Added some red and white yarn for accents. Here's Red, White and Blue

Oh boy was this an emotional challenge for me. I was finally able to sit down to stamp when my husband got home from work - it's really hard to stamp with a two year old who wants to be into everything or in your lap while you are trying to work.
Thanks for the challenge. Can't wait to see what you have for us next week!
