Wow, I'm on CLOUD 9 that I am kicking us off with the first challenge for the mini-VSBN! As you probably know by now, the theme is CLOUD 9. You could go a lot of different ways with this theme - shapes of clouds, colors of clouds, the space clouds are contained within and so on. Then there is the number nine. This isn't your ordinary number. It's a prime factor, a square number, the atomic number of beryllium, the number of animals that make up the Chinese dragon and so much more. So, what does all this have to do with my challenge? I am so glad you asked.
My challenge to you is a recipe challenge. Use the following recipe and the sketch provided.
3 photos
3 colors
2 embellishments 1 punched border total 9 elements
Your photos can be of anything or anyone but you must follow the recipe and sketch (notice the cloud on the sketch).
1. To be considered for VSBN Recognition, ALL VSBN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10:00 PM EST ON SUNDAY, October 31, 2010.
2. You have 3 hours to complete the challenge (each challenge theoretically produces one page per hour). For contest purposes, 1 upload per participant per challenge will be eligible to earn award/recognition. For example: if you complete 3 indivdual pages for this challenge, and upload each of them to the gallery you can only win one award/recognition for only one of your pages; the other two are part of the gallery to share but cannot win any award/recognition. If you upload a double page spread as one upload, it will be considered one upload; please do not upload the pages individually or they will not be considered a double page spread. It is the VSBN Challenge Host's decision to award/recognize pages that best represent her challenge based on the criteria in the challenge. Please be sure to write your description of how you interpreted his/her challenge in your Upload Description.
3. Please remember to put in the correct KEYWORD , when uploading your image; a wrong keyword means your submission may not be seen for consideration. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure you layout is seen by the host and all visitors.
Oh yeah! I made it. I keep forgetting that I am Central time and a hour behind. Love this challenge! Hope to get it in but have to finish cooking dinner.
I think it's an approval thing. It doesn't even work when you go directly to your page and click on the keyword. If I remember correctly it takes a little bit.

BTW - has anyone ever heard of "casting out 9's" to check math? My son is learning that in school and I've never heard of it before.... not quite sure why they waited til 5th grade to teach them how to check it this way though....

Your photo needs to be uploaded by 10pm on Sunday, Oct 31st. There's 3 hours for each challenge, based on an honor system. Most ladies can do a page per hour, but you can certainly use all three for your layout!
And Welcome! The VSBN's are such a blast! I get more projects done during VSBNs than I do all the months in between!

Thanks Michele - his teacher sent a handbook home. If we struggle, I'll get back to you on that. He seems to understand it, but I won't know for sure until he takes a quiz or test with it :rolleyes:

Thank you for answering my question. I should have selected photos before tonight.
Now, I am overwhelmed with trying to select some!!! That is going to be the hard part!
Already then.... my 3 photos are picked and cropped and matted; my 3 colors are chosen accordingly, 2 embellies in the works, and 1 border punch done. As soon as dinner is done, I'll perhaps get a chance to sit down and glue it all down

I saw those at Archivers last time I was there. It looks like a fun project, the ones they had displayed were pretty. I did look to see if they were going to have a class on those?

one off to bed, lots of new MDS downloads this afternoon, hadn't done any in a few months, I was in withdrawals. Now to get Maci to sleep. Fortunately feeling more like myself, some sort of yucky 24 hour bug here, but at least I broke my weight plateau
So going to start on this in a few, need to change Maci's sheets' gone through 2 sheets and multiple clothes a day the past few day, we thought it was all teeth but decided once we all started feeling crummy it was a bug.

My daughter is coming for a visit Nov 4th. And I want to give her a mini album with photo's of her cats to take back to school with her. So I've had these photo's printed for 2 weeks! I'm going to try and see if I can make the sketch work, but may have to find more photo's if it doesn't.
Oh no, I hope you and your little one are feeling better soon! What is MDS downloads?

Well Hobby Lobby has one just like 7 Gypsies for 9.99!! I couldn't believe it! The only difference is the handle is on the opposite side.

Charlsanne, I hope you and Maci are feeling better soon. stomach bugs are no fun (even with the weight loss...) I hated to see my littles throw up as it scares them :(

That's a SUPER good price compared to the ones I saw were all over $16.99. I was thinking my Mom would maybe like something like that done up in colors for her to put in her living room?
