NOV10VSBND ~ Friday, November 5, 2010 ~ 3:00 PM EST ~ Define Cloud Nine
Title: Define Cloud Nine
Hostess: Mary Pat (Mary_Pat419)
Keyword: NOV10VSBND
Day/Date: Friday / November 5, 2010
Time: 3:00 PM (EST)
It was believed that clouds existed on a successful level of layers,
and the ultimate high layer was 9.
This line was in the descriptive that Lela (LMN) posted about our VSBN Theme, On Cloud 9. To me it was a great definition and what I used as my inspiration for todays challenge:
It was believed ~ Someone along the way challenged their comfort zone to change their point of view in order to prove/disprove a commonly held belief. The first part of my challenge: you must step out of your comfort zone and scrap differently. If you normally scrap pages with 1- 3 photos, then you must scrap a page with 9 photos. If you normally scrap a page with 4+ photos, you must scrap a page with a single photo.
that clouds existed on a successful level of layers ~ The next part of my challenge is to have a minimum of 3 layers somewhere on your page.
and the ultimate high layer was 9 ~ The final part of my challenge is to accent your main photo in some ultimate way. You can add a special frame, you can cluster in the corner of that photo, you can write on that photo.
BONUS: Go into your FAVORITES at SCS and select a page to use as your sketch; please link it in your descriptive to give the proper credit. If you haven't started a FAVORITES gallery yet, take some time (not included in the challenge time) to visit some of our galleries. Here is the October Goals Thread Gallery. Or, check out any of the pages in our Scrapbook Challenge Threads.
NOTE: I am a multi picture, double page scrapper...so a single page, single picture is very scary for me and I don't do it very often. This was the inspiration for my page: AWJMGMOM: Love You To Peaches
Here is the GALLERY for this challenge...be sure to leave a little luv for everyone!
UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. To be considered for VSBN Recognition, ALL VSBN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10:00 PM EST ON Sunday, November 14, 2010 for VSBN.
2. You have 3 hours to complete the challenge (each challenge theoretically produces one page per hour). For contest purposes, 1 upload per participant per challenge will be eligible to earn award/recognition. For example: if you complete 3 indivdual pages for this challenge, and upload each of them to the gallery you can only win one award/recognition for only one of your pages; the other two are part of the gallery to share but cannot win any award/recognition. If you upload a double page spread as one upload, it will be considered one upload; please do not upload the pages individually or they will not be considered a double page spread. It is the VSBN Challenge Host's decision to award/recognize pages that best represent her challenge based on the criteria in the challenge. Please be sure to write your description of how you interpreted his/her challenge in your Upload Description.
3. Please remember to put in the correct KEYWORD: NOV10VSBND , when uploading your image; a wrong keyword means your submission may not be seen for consideration. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure you layout is seen by the host and all visitors.
this one is tough for me, because I have been going out of my comfort zone so much already lately, so will have to see how I am inspired and what will make it all come together, think think think, time to look through my pictures and see which way I need to go, but I think for me it will be adding a bunch of embellies and doing even more journaling, but not sure yet!

I came in to peak at the challenges and was excited to see my little man as your inspiration Mary Pat ... I'm trying to peak when I can, but I have to keep my scrappy stuff away until after a birthday party on Sunday..... I'm in cooking, cleaning, and caking mode here... but I'll have some time to think about this one.
"challenge" is a great word for this one.... I might have to scrap with a flower or something frilly ... I have some but never use them as I don't think my boys will want them on a page when they are older.....hmmm

This is going to be a tough one for me as I am used to scrapping only 1 or 2 photos on a page. Ok... I am off to see if I can get 9 photos on a page!
Ladies - go check out Cheryl's (Motherload) website... she has great sketches with the # of photos per sketch or layout for inspiration
I actually have a harder time with just a "few" photos these days... interesting how we are all so "eclectic"

ok nevermind, just found the perfect one in my faves, that Wendella did that is a scraplift of Val's, didn't even know that till I just looked and studied it, but will be perfect because it has tons of elements, which I normally don't do
So hopefully I remember to give credit to all when I go to post!!!
So Val - be proud of how much your scrap pages inspire all of us, they really are great!!!

I know when I look at pages I FAVORITE them but then never go back to do a scraplift...which is why I always do it as a challenge ;-) Plus, less thinking...the hard work is done for you ;-)
hubby was checking his schedule on the computer, but he's gone - another trip to Menards, he's already done Lowes and Home Depot once today, and I think Menards too, thank goodness we live within 3 miles of all 3 of them!!

leftovers tonight here for dinner
I made this great apple pie last night from Rachel Ray's Everyday magazine, it's called a craggly apple pie, and it's actually low cal and fat, one of her makeover recipes, so yummy!! The "crust" which is made of Graham Crackers folded into an egg white mixture is what keeps it lower in cals and fat, I think 150 cals and 3g fat and it made 8 servings

Maybe that's not so good...he can always go and spend money ;-)

Mmmmmm, I'll have to go look that one up...sounds YUMMO ;-)
I finally finished and uploaded the first challenge and I looked thru my favorites and picked out the one I want to scraplift...now just to find the perfect picture for it. I think I know of one but I'll have to scan it or else (gasp) I'll have to do a paper page! lol!
I tend to try and get as many pics on a page as possible so I'll have to choose the one picture layout.

You can do it! Maybe you should do paper as an extra challenge, LOL! ;-)
Haha Val - nope that's it for now, he's on to ductwork. 2 of our 3 doors arrived today so will be picking those up this afternoon, told him I was re-thinking of the bedroom/playroom, that maybe I do want my craft space enclosed in a room as well, so we shall see how it all comes together and if I decided to move (yet again) and back to where I started in the basement!
Page is coming together nicely, need a couple more elements, need to hunt some down, but I think it's working!!

Only 30 minutes to go and then it's Tracy's turn :-) The advantage of being a Coordinator or Challenge Host of VSBN are you get the challenges earlier. I've been working on the last two challenges for today for about 30 minutes now...but I may not have it done to post until tomorrow. I only got a few hours of sleep last night and my eyes are already drooping!
Yes...I was thinking about it too! I'd have to copy the page I'm thinking of if I do it by paper. I have to go now though since DH came home and everyone is hungry...imagine! lol! We are making a grocery run for "chicken on the bone". (that's what DGS calls broasted chicken) too funny!

i usually try and get 4-5 on a page and always do DP layouts. Doing 1 photo, of myself :rolleyes::shock:, without another page is super hard. i'm probably going to go back and do another side to it one of these days. lol This is way out of my comfort zone. Could i really just do a single page and not make it matchy matchy? i tried. And i have never ever done little strips of paper right on the Scrapbook page! Usually i have some kind of background paper. Thanx for making me challenge myself.
Looks like Tracy may be running a few minutes late...if she doesn't have the next challenge posted by 6:15 then I'll put it up for her. Thank you all for playing!!!!
Ok here is my page.........wow was it ever a challenge for me. I was way out of my comfort zone, it took me four sets of pictures before I found one set that worked,I did fussy cutting which I never do, nine pictures, unheard of, so 3 hours and 2 tylenol later here is my page...oh and to top it all off I had to watch Candy just throw her pictures down and get a grand page. Such a brat!
