JUN11VSBNG ~ Friday, Jun 17th ~ 10:00pm ~ Late Night Munchies
Title:Late Night Munchies
Hostess: Michele (fmtinsley)
Keyword: JUN11VSBNG
Day/Date: Friday, June 17th
Time: 10:00pm (EST)
If you are in the eastern time zone, it is 10pm and time for a late night snack! If you are not, well, I'm not even going to try and figure out the different time zones so let's just say it's snack time everywhere! One of my favorite snacks I like to make that is a recipe is Puppy Chow. You might also recognize it as Chex Muddy Buddies. I usually make a batch to take to scrapbook retreats too.
I've given the recipe below and attached a photo but let's get snacking on the challenge. My challenge is to use the sketch provided and the colors brown & white to represent the chocolate and powdered sugar. I didn't specify a place for the title and journaling so I am leaving it up to you for placement.
Chex Muddy Buddies (from website) Ingredients
9 cups Rice Chex, Corn Chex or Chocolate Chex cereal (or combination)
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
(Substitution: Peanut butter and chocolate are a favorite flavor combo, but peanut butter lovers can substitute peanut butter chips for the chocolate chips to intensify that flavor. )
Directions
1. Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside.
2. In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag.
3. Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container
1. To be considered for VSBN Prizes, ALL main VSBN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10:00 PM EST ON SUNDAY, June 26th.
2. You have 2 hours to complete the challenge. Please be sure to write your description of how you interpreted his/her challenge in your Upload Description.
3. Please remember to put in the correct KEYWORD JUN11VSBNG when uploading your image; a wrong keyword means your submission may not be seen for consideration. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
It is also highly recommended that you post a link to your creation in this chat thread to be sure you layout is seen by the host and all visitors.
I remember making Puppy Chow years ago when my DD was young. I'll have to remember to make some for DGS now! These colors will work great for his baseball pics. Off to see what else I can come up with.

My girls love it! can't wait to see what you come up with.
This is just too funny! I just got done eating Muddy Buddies!! lol My son has been begging to make them for weeks now. We just bought Chex at the store today so that he could make them. Can't wait to do the challenge.

Well, I snacked and now I am sleepy! LOL So, I am not thinking too clearly. I think I will wait until tomorrow to do this one. I can't believe there are three pages in the gallery already! You girls are quick! I can't even think of any photos. I think three pages this evening did me in. I hope I can make it to do all of them tomorrow!

Good Night Sharon! Sleep well
I can't stamp or scrap when I'm tired either ... it's too much effort to be creative, LOL. It will be better in the a.m.

I'm off to bed also. I'll be checking in periodically tomorrow (can't be on here the entire day), but definitely up for probably one or two of the challenges. I'll have a lot of time on Sunday to work on the challenges. Swimming is in the picture for at least part of tomorrow. Good night ladies.

Swimming sounds FUN! Have a good time.
Sleep well
I've finally found the picts I'm going to use for this page, now to find some browns...

This is mine. I am glad that I've been able to participate in the VSBN as it has helped me to actually get more pages done than I would likely do on my own!
I've got my page done...just took a little over 20 minutes to get it uploaded and posted here though! I'm going to call it a night too. I can't seem to get my internet to cooperate and it's frustrating when I've got to wait just to type and chat! Hopefully tomorrow it will work better or I'll just be scrapping and have to download during the week when I've got lots of time on my hands to sit and wait!
I completed my three for tonight! This was fun. I love all of the challenges. Will catch all of you in the am. Maybe I'll put those MDS scrapbook pages (digital), on real paper this week as an additional challenge to myself. Tomorrow ladies.

Well, too late for me and I am not even East Coast!! Anyway - finished this morning. The sketch and challenge went great with the next pics on my list to scrap - how cool is that?? I don't have the side border though - I couldn't make it fit with the pics I had ;(
I got booted off the computer last night but this challenge is past my bedtime anyway :-) I'm off to go work on it this morning...thanks for the great sketch!
Finished my "mix page". It was my nephew's baptism and pictures are from both sides of the family. I must say, I'm pretty proud of it! Hopefully when my "sig. other" gets here this afternoon, he can figure out how to get my pictures the right size to load.
//www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1995793?&cat=20391Here is mine! So easy after a night's rest! I did this one very quickly! Took me a lot longer to photograph! Inside the flash ruined it, outside so many shadows! ( I know take the flash off! LOL)
Great sketch and awesome recipe, Michele!

At least you have someone near to do these electronic things! Neither my DH or I can do this stuff. It takes our kids when they come visit! They live over thousand miles away. I have learned a lot on SCS, that I never knew before. But still have more to learn. Wish I could tell you how to do it, but can't. I must be lucky that I didn't have to worry about that particular detail!
Good luck, look forward to seeing you uploads.
Sharon

I didn't get a chance to make the recipe, but it sounds delicious! I need to go get some ingredients for my next late night scraptime. Anyway, I took a few liberties with the sketch, but hopefully no one minds. I also added a dab of red to the brown & white combo. Here's my layout:
Thanks for sharing that snack recipe - will have to round up those ingredients next time I's shopping!
Loved your sketch - and had just the right set of photos for it - except I had to tweak your sketch to accommodate the orientation of my photos. Father's Day
