Default FEB11VSBND ~ Saturday, February 5, 2011 ~ 2:00 PM EST ~ Happy Scrappy Zen state

Title: Happy Scrappy Zen State
Hostess: Mary Pat (Mary_Pat419)
Keyword: FEB11VSBND
Day/Date: Saturday, February 5, 2011
Time: 2:00 PM (EST)

Ohhhhmmmmmmm, Ohhhhmmmmmmm, Ohhhhmmmmmmm
When I follow these steps, Im in a Happy Scrappy Zen stateresulting in completed pages and feeling spiritually renewed
STEP 1: (before Zen-like mood) LOUDLY & EMPHATICALLY let your family know that you are Not To Be Disturbedif there is a second adult in the house, they are to make ALL decisions and to ask any questions they dont know the answer to NOW! Remind them, if they have no questions, they will suffer the consequences or reap the benefitseither way DO NOT DISTURB THE SCRAPPER! (make a sign and post if necessary)
STEP 2: I like to watch movies when Im scrapping; its the start of my zen-like mood. I enjoy old black & whites, The Thin Man series is my favorite (starring William Powell & Myrna Loy). I like to watch movies Ive already seen so I dont need to concentrate; I mostly listen & watch when needing a break...in my Asian Studies class I was told that this type of process helps calm your Monkey Brain ~ the side of your brain that easily looses focus.
STEP 3: Proper hydration must be maintainedI start with hot tea in the AM, water in the afternoon, and once in a while a Vodka/Cranberry with lime in the evening (max of two or the scrapping might get ugly!).
STEP 4: Make scrapping easy and use sketches! I have a few books/magazines/websites I like to use; or, I go to my FAVORITES gallery here on SCS.

Now, time to get to your Happy Scrappy Zen state.
1) Put on a movie/tv show/music, something to distract your Monkey Brain so you can relax and focus on your scrapbooking!
2) Your page must contain at least 1 black & white photo
3) You should pick one of the following to use on your page: a tea stained item, something representing water, or a color combination of cranberry & lime.
Here are some tutorials you can visit:

NOTE: Watching videos and practicing these techniques DO NOT count towards your scrapping time.

4) Share your sketch! Pick a sketch (a magazine, website, book, an admired page) and share with us where you got it. BONUS: add the link to your sketch (or upload to your gallery)it when writing in your post.

I love to use pages from My SCS Favorites Gallery during VSBN. For this Challenge I used a page from Fresshe: 2010Goodbye2009(be sure to leave Luv on her page or any other samples you see during this challenge!)

MY SAMPLE

VIEW THE GALLERY FOR THIS CHALLENGE HERE

UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. To be considered for VSBN Recognition, ALL VSBN CREATIONS MUST BE UPLOADED BY 10:00 PM EST ON SUNDAY, February 13 .
2. You have 2 hours to complete the challenge. Please be sure to write your description of how you interpreted his/her challenge in your Upload Description. (REMEMBER: Watching & Practicing the Tutorials does not count towards this time limit)
3. Please remember to put in the correct KEYWORD FEB11VSBND when uploading your image; a wrong keyword means your submission may not be seen for consideration. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.

Too funny...I just turned OFF the TV since no one was watching the Flintstones anymore. I thought DGS was but turns out he escaped thru the garage and is outside with his friend from across the street. Even though it's still raining slightly, they are out in the snow/ice playing. He just told me that we have a muskrat in the back yard. A MUSKRAT? Does he even know what that is? lol!

Great sample Mary Pat. I love Val's template that she uses for her daily album. She's got lots of them posted at Designer Digitals.

Thank you. I miss seeing her here. I don't have time to hop around sites so I didn't know where she went...didn't that site go down?

I'm hoping to get this one done but at the moment I am doing dishes. No Zen for me right now. Maybe later tonight. Thanks for the chllenge MP. I'll probably scraplift your sample page. Might not use it for the challenge but I'll use it someday. Happy scrapping ladies. I'll try to pop in later.

Sorry you can't hang and play with us. Thank you for the warm compliment! The bridge photo is probably my best outdoor photo and I was very happy how it turned out. Can't wait to see your page!!!

He just popped in to let me know that if I hear a loud scream, I need to come outside to protect them from the muskrat. Now it makes me wonder what they HAVE found! He does have the coat on but I had to remind him about hat and gloves.

I loved that song growing up!

No. That was Divine Digital that was gone for a while. Designer Digital is the one run by Katie Pertiet.

Could be! I asked my DD what the groundhog saw in CO and she told me that they livestream in from PA for that prediction! She said the newscaster was trying to "understand" the whole groundhog thing. I had forgotten they didn't have groundhogs out west...just prairie dogs....

I think that's why I like copying pages or using sketches, I wouldn't be able to do both :-)

Sure, as long as you can share it so someone can possibly use it in a paper form or copy for their own digi page...

I started scrapping when my first was two but once dd2 came around I didn't scrap until she was two but only sporadically...pre digi pages and couldn't leave supplies out or they'd be destroyed...so you're waaaaay ahead of me on the scrapping scale!

Here's Mine! DGS helped - he liked the combo of cranberry and lime so it's on there! Not the idea that I started with though! And I've got to go back in and edit the PSD layout...I just noticed I typed 2010 instead of 2009! Such a wonderful thing..this digi!

PA Ren Faire

I did add some embellishments but it still looks a little bare. Will have to go through my digi files and see if anything jumps out at me. With my old microsoft program, I could see a picture of each file but with Windows 7 I don't know how to set it up yet to see the pictures instead of the folders.

Oi....technology!

Well ladies...only 15 minutes left for me to be chatting here. I'm off to help my dd1 who want to make dinner for us tonight and I'll start cooking my beef for the Taco Lasagna for tomorrow. I should be back for the 6PM challenge though.

And now I have to leave for a while. The one local shoe store where we get shoes for DGS is offering $5 coupons if you bring in gently used shoes (there is some national organization trying to collect 11 million pairs (I think)) and you can use up to 3 coupons towards a pair of shoes. So, I looked thru my closet and found 2 pairs (they didn't want sandals or womens dress shoes or I could have given them another 10-15 pairs). We need to get DGS shoes so off we go! Might miss the next one...sorry!

Oi....technology!
I'm not sure how that works either...sometimes I get it...I think if I enter the program from 'COMPUTER' and then click on the drive then file I see the photos. If I pull up the file directly then I get only the files/names...hence why my product are in my description yet :-)
