I just broke down and asked for a Cuttlebug for Christmas (along with my Copics). I use my Cricut every time I scrapbook, so I want the Cuttlebug for embossing.
What are your top favorite embossing backgrounds (other than Polka Dot...a given for me). If you could ONLY have 3, what would they be?
I know, I know....I've been posting a lot of questions this month, but I'll settle down and get some work done in January...I promise!!
I'd absolutely have to have Textile Texture in my collection - the small scale of the pattern makes it perfect for so many projects!
Another oldie but goodie is D'vine Swirls - very versatile.
Probably one of the wordy ones would make third place on my list - I like to be able snip out a single word to use as an embellishment as well as having the whole folder as a background - "You" or the birthday one would probably be competing for poll position.
I have some of the Tim Holtz ones on my Christmas list - slightly bigger than the CB ones so you don't have that issue of not quite covering a whole card front and some of the patterns are really funky! Not got any in my hot little hands yet but other people love them so I'm assuming they'll do the business!
Have fun with your Cuttlebug (assuming it turns up under your tree come Saturday!).
I love Tiny Mosaic, Diamondplate, and Script (Script is my go-to for wedding cards), but am kicking myself for buying Birds & Swirls. I seriously cannot make anything attractive with that folder.

It's funny how everyone's so different! I love the birds and swirls. Also like the Tiny Mosaic and Diamond plate. I bought snowflakes on Friday and when I got home, found I already had it! Will teach me to pull out my supplies list. ACMoore had a sale 40% off so I bought Happy Birthday and Stylized Flowers for $2.99 each!
I use Distress Stripes a LOT. The other ones I use the most besides the Swiss Dots are Paisley and Victoria. I have about 15 folders and I use them all so it's hard to narrow it down but those four are probably the ones I grab the most.

I like the Tim Holtz Bricks, wood, a mesh - like Tiny mosaic, and i cant find the other right now. The bricks and the mesh have that grungey fade out thing going on, I got a CB Domino folder, a clocks and gears (reminds me of TH) and a bigger than swiss dots, but smaller than polka dots. When I was working, I did not deprive myself of any embossing folder I wanted. I have 33 in front of me, and probaly 6 more hiding. Now I have to scrimp and save and use a coupon even for an embossing folder, so buying really is on hold since I am alone and on a small retirement.

So far, we have:
Swiss Dot (3 votes)
Forest Branches
Argyle
Textile Texture
Dvine Swirls
Wordy: You
Wordy: Birthday
Tim Holtz Swirl
Tiny Mosaic (2 votes)
Diamondplate (2 votes)
Script
Birds and Swirls
Distress Stripes
Paisley
Victoria
Tim Holtz Bricks
Tim Holtz Wood
Tim Holtz Mesh (similar to Tiny Mosaic)
It's a good thing I live within walking distance (1/4 mile) of ACMoore and M's. I'll be using my 50% off coupons a LOT!!
When I had a Cuttlebug, the Sizzix folders were too tight of a fit (they also make the Tim Holz and Stampin' Up folders). I realize each machine is slightly different, but that was my experience. They work just fine in my BigShot.
For Cuttlebug folders, in addition to Swiss Dots, I also like Textile, Snowflakes, and Houndstooth.
I'm glad you didn't ask us to admit how many embossing folders we have...or how many are still in the original packaging! I'm sick - I have "collected" them.
But it's funny because the ones I use the most (definitely out of the packaging) are:
So far I only have Cuttlebug ones - tempted by some of the Tim Holtz.
Top two without doubt are Textile Texture and D'vine Swirl
Third place is harder to call, but I like the Argyll for masculine cards.
The one I didn't think I'd use much, but end using a lot is D'Vine Swirl (somehow the folder itself doesn't do anything for me, but the embossed pieces I love. Go figure!)
Third place actually goes to a Sizzix folder called 3 dots - kind of like Swiss Dots, but the dots are in little groups of 3. Trouble is, you can only buy this folder in a 2-pack with another one - I like the 2nd folder, too, but you're limiting me to 3 here!
Another one that I'm really excited about is my Tim Holtz Woodgrain - again, though, it's only available in a 2-pack and you might not like the other folder.
Quick tip to make double the use out of your embossing folders- unless they have words on- flip the folder over, and you can de-boss the design (sunk into the card, rather than raised). Gives you double the options. Also, there are quite a lot of companies bringing them out now- Quickutz has some, as do Sizzix, Papermania, Creative Expressions, as well as a number of generic ones by small companies.
Only 3! Couldn't possibly narrow it down that much....
Swiss dots, Victoria and Diamond Plate rank at or near the top.
But the Tim Holtz Brick and Woodgrain folders are faves too. And the Lattice Square from SU is wonderful... Can't wait to get the new one from the upcoming SU mini. And the list goes on. It's like trying to pick your favourite chocolate bar! Each day it could be different!

I love Swiss Dot, and Diamond plate. My sons-in law are Harley riders and the Diamond Plate is the same as the Harley engine pattern. I emboss it on silver metallic paper
I also love Su Petals A Plenty , and this year I fell in love SU Northern Flurry.
I figured out how to use it sideways to make 5" x7" cards . The design embosses from the left side and along the bottom .
you can make a really sweet ladybug card with the swiss dots and red cardstock. Just lightly brush a black inkpad over the dots. I didn't cut mine into a circle, just left it regulat sized..my son was a ladybug freak at one time. And if you get the Tim Holtz Bricks and Woodgrain folder, you will NOT regret it. I had also heard that you can use the Duff cake impressions folders in the CB, but when I looked at them, I wasn't too sure about them, they looked flimsy, but there's 2 to a pack for $5

:pGeez....I can't say I like one over the other...but I use the mosiac, swiss dots more than anything I have, and I must admit I have about 30 folders now. The one I purchased that I don't use is the music one .....I just can't get into that one.
Enjoy your Cuttlebug !
The SU only embossing folders are great too. I love their designs.
I really like SU's square lattice and petals a plenty! I plan to get elegant lines and I just bought the Northern Flurry from their last mini.....so cute!
I use these a lot. I don't know the name of it but I have one made by either Sizzix or Cuttlebug that is a brocade type print that I use a lot. I also use the birds and swirls. I love the SU folders too.
