I just got back from Target today with 22 mailboxes...and it's all your fault!;)
I ignored the threads about the mailboxes until yesterday, and then went to the galleries and did a 'search' for mailboxes last night...Oh my, that did it...I went to bed thinking about going to Target today!!
I think most places are open on New Years now days  I may just have to head back to my local Target. I already got some mailboxes, but I'm not sure if I have enough ;)
My closest target is 2 1/2 hours away! There's actually not even ONE Target in the whole state of Vermont. I had to get people from other states to buy them for me and ship them!

OMG I bought six and was wondering if that was too many. lol! I would have bought a lot more if I had people to give them to or if I was doing a craft fair or something.
I don't really "do" the Valentines thing much anymore...now that the kids are big (and DH wouldn't appreciate getting a mailbox really!), so I bought 16 white ones, 4 red, and only 2 pink. I figured they would make great gift boxes for friend's birthdays or for next Christmas to put a gift card in or a Christmas pin or something small....how about a scarf for a friend's birthday or just plain candy or nuts in it for a hostess gift or 'thank you' token??? See, I could go on and on! Better to have some stashed for the whole year! LOL
The best part was I took back 2 lounging pants that my daughter got me for Xmas because they are waaaay too long and I didn't want to have to hem up lounging pants! DD didn't care and I'd much rather alter mailboxes than hem pants anyway!! The return paid for the whole lot of them! Hee!
I used great self restraint and only bought 10 tonight. I went there for something else, not expecting to find the mailboxes. My Target had over 20 of each color! I really wanted to get some to use in my MOPS group, but couldn't figure out what to do with them. I'm not sure the moms would be able to alter them easily, so I just got enough for me.
I've heard/read that some stampers still have their remaining stash from last year! I need my stamp storage space more than I need a surplus of things I'll need to store for at least a year, I guess!

 Ok Bev, I have to laugh at that only because you know I have seen your lovely studio. I'd give my eye teeth to have a quarter of that space. ;)
22 mailboxes huh? Wow! I missed the boat last year and this year I'm into the lunchbox tins and cigar boxes, so I'm going to pass on them again. But you're right, from what I've seen they make nice gift boxes. Thats why I love the tins.
Let me tell you, it's not easy trying to sneak a bag of mailboxes into the house, and I only got a few!!!! Here's a link to the 'mailbox' gallery; have you seen the Christmas one by stampwithdiane cased from one by staramaze? It's awesome!!!
I guess I got the Grandmother load today because I bought 34!!!! I need 24 for a Cricut swarm I am co-hosting and 10 for my family & friends. I had to drive almost 30 minutes to go to one that had any in stock. Sorry but I pretty much cleaned them out. There were about 10-12 left when I was finished!! My Target hasn't put them out yet in their spot and I just couldn't risk it!
carp! I need to get off these boards! Now I want to hop in the car and drive the 20 minutes to my Target in hopes that they have at least some. ;)

My Target is only a 1/2 mile away. They just stocked up yesterday and I am running out of reasons to not go get some. I haven't looked in the gallery yet, so I think that is the only reason that is holding me back right now! LOL!

Mine was. I just got back. I bought 6 and called a friend while I was there and picked up 6 for her too. I'm going to go back tomorrow and get some more. I decided that on my way home from Target. LOL

I got six at my Target last Friday. I'm headed back to Target tomorrow. Let me know if you'd like me to pick you up any (hopefully they still have some). I won't mind mailing them to you.

Thanks, Theresa. I think I'm all set, though. I just got 20 in the mail the other day and I have another 15-ish on the way from 2 other states. I think I might be set.

Wow - it sounds like you'll be busy! Can't wait to see how you finish them!
Okay. On the chance of sounding stupid, I will ask anyway. What are the heck are these "mailboxes" you get at Target??
Check the link it my post #18; you'll see lots of finished mailboxes; they are cute little mailboxes probably meant to carry valentines to school but the creative ladies here really know how to dress them up! They can be found in the dollar spot at Target, but not for long I'm sure!

Fortunately, I didn't have to 'hide' mine. I didn't want DH there when I bought them, but when I got home, DH said "Did you find anything good today?" (I've been to Target for 3 days in a row for discounted Christmas stuff!) I said, "I'll show you, but you have to promise not to laugh..." I just took ONE out and showed him. He got an odd look on his face and said "What in the world are you going to do with that?! It's not even big enough to hold mail!"
I showed him the gallery here of them altered and told him they can be used for a variety of gift opportunities....and they were ONLY $1.00! He said, "Oh, you're going to decorate them...Yeah, that would work for gift cards and stuff...good deal, too!"
Yes, he puts up with me quite nicely! LOL
Now all I have to do is clean my stamp room from the 'storage' it became during the holidays. When I have a clear table, I just may tackle one of them boxes! Maybe tomorrow...???
We just got a new Super Target about a 1/2 mile from our house! That's dangerous! Especially when there's a Starbucks right in there, too!
I bought two of these mailboxes today, only because everybody on SCS raves about them. I just now looked at the gallery - I think I need to go buy more!
Oh, and I also got some other cute crafting things - paper flower embellies with rhinestones in the center and small Valentine-themed brads. They also had some small Valentine stamp sets for $1, but I'd already bought a bunch at Michaels. Oh, and a pack of 12 sheets of Valentine DP for $1! I need to check the $1 spot at Target more often.

Well I have been stalking our Target for a couple weeks now and they FINALLY got the mailboxes in. I picked up 20 of them. I can't wait to start decorating! Thanks for the link to all the cute mailboxes.

Just not enough time in the day to do everything that I love to do
By the time I found them at my Target I was only able to get 6 of them. But I did get some really great ribbon they had for scrapbooking in their one spot!!!
Better be quick! Once the word gets out that they are in stock they go fast!
I'm not too worried about it. If I don't get more it will be o.k. 6 is what I needed. (one for DD, one for each of her 3 siblings, they are half siblings-from her Dad, and two for friends) I just wanted more to have on stock. ;) I can't go till tomorrow afternoon. Have to go talk to one of the commanders in DH's unit first thing in the morning and then I have an appt. So I can't go till after that. We'll see what happens.
