Have seen these all over the place, but I am wondering why I should purchase one when I can use all the other adhesives out there..is it really that much more convenient to run a die cut through it and then its good to go?
Also, if I were to get one, what's the most used size? I have diecuts of all shapes and sizes (sizzix machine) and would want the best bang for the buck.
i'm thinking of purchasing a Xyron lable maker. We just used one tonight during my card club. One of the members has one and we were making cards with this little scalloped frames that one of the members punched out using her Sizzix machine which would been hard to do with the monoadhesive or glue sticks as the frames were so thin. We ran them through the Xyron and peeled and stuck them on our cards...way easy and way cool.
I don't know if it's more convenient that other adhesives, but I have a 9" wide one and I love it! I used to use it more when I did paper scrapping, but now that I have new refill I will use it for making cards. It's a little bit to take places, but I wanted one for a long time and I love it. It's one of my favorite toys. I know that adhesive is on the whole piece, so I don't have to worry about corners catching on an envelope or something. Plus, you can get laminating and magnet refills for other kinds of crafts. I love it.

I wanted one forever and finally got one a year ago. I tend to use it more when I do scrap pages, because I want to know that the adhesive is all over the back of each piece, but I don't use it much for cards. I want my SB pages to last forever. I have the 510 size, which is perfect for 4" x 6" photos. I also have the sticker maker "x" which is great for little punchies.

I love my 150 X when I'm using my Cuttlebug because there are so many little thin things to glue. The small letters would be so hard to glue with anything else. I just send them through the x and run a stylus around each letter or shape so the glue will cut off from them - the stylus seems to help. I couldn't imagine using anything else to glue with when using the cuttlebug.
I have 2 Xyrons - the small 150 X shaped - which is great for ribbon and small pieces. Then I also have the 510 (I think it takes stuff up to 5" width) which is just the best thing for vellum as no adhesive shows through.
I have some stamps, a mans shirt, a jeans pocket and a pair of jeans and I love to stamp them on an old denim shirt and then mount it on CS. I run a piece of CS through the Xyron, stick the denim to the CS and then trim round the image - and there is NO fraying.
I LOVE my Xyrons and would say they were a must have. I tend to stick with permanent adhesive myself - but you can also use other cartridges like laminate and magnet (with the larger machines - the small 150 X shaped only has permanent or repositionable options).
I have a couple of Xyrons and I love, love, love them. They are really great for some of the smaller stuff like alphabet letters and such. So worth the money IMO.
I love my Xyron, I use mine for postage labels. I purchase the postage online and run the label through the Xyron. Couldn't live without it. Great for kids to make their own stickers too! I have the one that's about 5 inches and gave the bigger 9" one to my dd.
I LOVE mine. I have the 900 and the 510 and the tiny little one shaped like an X for small things. I use mine mostly for scrapbooking and when I use die cuts. For me it's a must have. It's great for running ribbon through as well, if you need it to stick the whole length. I use it when I alter comp notebooks and it works beautifully.
The laminating cartridge is great for making a surface you can use a dry erase marker on. I made a chore chart for my kids and laminated it. When they do the chore, they can mark it off. At the end of the week we just erase it and start all over.
a must have...I have the old 810 (or what ever the number is)...it accepts 8 1/2" wide paper...I will run an entire sheet of paper through the machine then die cut my pieces (card making, scrapbooking and any other craft) and it is great...when done this way, it leaves no adhesive around the edges...I keep all the scrap in a ziplock bag for other cuts...or if I need to punch something...I have also run fun foam through it and die cut that too and it work greats...one of my best and most used purchases...I would buy it again!

I got a permanent refill to a Xyron 250 by mistake and can't return it. I bought it through a store that had closed, but she was ordering and passing her discount onto others. She would not return it, because she was afraid they'd find out she was no longer in business. So, I got stuck with paying for it. I paid a little over $6. Please someone, if you would like a deal on this refill that I have no use for, let me know. I am sure we can work something out.
I LOVE my xyron. I have the 510 (I think that's the #) and the small one (X shaped). I use the small one for adhering ribbon and letters to scrapbook pages. One great use for the xyron--I have run a stamped card front through it and then sprinkled with glitter. It adheres wonderfully-I do this alot for X-mas cards.
I think it's worth it! I have the 1200, 850, 500, Xyron Limited(kids version of the 250), Xyron Cheeta, and the 150(X). I use them for card making, scrapbooking, sticker making, laminating, and magnets. I keep my little glue removal block handy for any unwanted glue that is sometimes left behind. All of this and no heat required, SUPER!! The large machines (1200 and 850) cartridges are pricey and not as easily found as the 900, 250, 510, cheeta, and the 150. I don't have the 900 but I think that it might be the best one for use with varying size dies, etc., and perhaps the 250 for small cuts. You can always lay items side by side of lay items to fit the openings so as not to have a lot of wasted space which results in wasted adhesive. Should you decide to purchase one of the products, I feel certain that you will get great use out of it. Happy Xyroning
I absolutely love the Xyron so much I have them all different sizes. I love laminating at home and I know if I want to cover a journal or mailbox, I can cover it anmd it will stick forever., I can give things away or sell them and never worry about them coming apart.
I just have the X, and I adore it!! If I broke it or lost it, I would replace it immediately. I can see myself buying the next size up as well. The X works perfectly for any of my Cricut stuff that will fit. If it's bigger than 1.5", I can usually get it glued without the X because it's big enough. But for those small pieces, it's a life saver!
I love my Xyrons! I have the 900 and the 150. I use the 900 mainly with permanent adhesive to adhere acetate, vellum and to make the entire surface sticky so I can apply a layer of glitter to the card front. See here for a glitter card - www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=380222&cat=8173I'm addicted to these and do this a lot for christmas.
I use my 150 mostly to adhere small dies and pieces of ribbon. You can't beat it for sticking ribbon on a card!
Thanks for all the comments, ladies. I may have to get that little X-shaped one. I've looked at it in the store but wasn't sure. Your mentioning the small cuttlebug die cuts is what sold me.
I love the little X one. I had the 510 one and the handle broke on it after I only used one cartridge. Unfortunately it was out of warranty.....I didn't use it a lot because of the expense of the cartridges so now I am stuck with cartridges and no machine. I am told that you don't actually need the machine. When I go to a crop later this month, I am going to ask the girl that said this, how it is done. I really don't want to buy another machine at this point.
