or wherever else you are getting it from, due to the weight of Papertrey's new colored cardstock? If Papertrey eventually has a selection that rivals other companies in color choices, I will switch. Because of the weight.
I do not understand, for the life of me, why SU! does not make their cardstock 110lb.
There is no comparison between SU! Whisper white and her white cardstock. I wonder if SU! staff has tried Nichole's white??
If she has a smaller variety (say about 12 - 24 colors), I may just add these on to my current cardstock supply. But if she goes all out with tons of colors, I will make the switch. The only thing I would regret is not getting the matching SU! DP. But somehow, I think Nichole will be coming up with that at some point as well!
I won't switch. I'll add some shades. I think the spring moss or whatever the green is will be nice.
I will use the PTI white though and if they come out with a cream/ivory I'll use that too.
But I LOVE the weight of the SU colored cardstock. It's not like it's junky at all. I don't care for the whisper white, but some people love the image they get stamping on it. I do wish it was thicker though, it feels cheesy when you make card bases out of it.
so no total switch over for me.

I will! I love the fact that there's free shipping on order over $40...no taxes and i've been a PPT addict for quite some time. They put their best on everything they put out!
Nope, I wouldn't switch. I love the weight of SU's colored cardstocks, and the fact that they match my inks, ribbons, brads, designer papers, markers, etc. makes me happy.
Don't mean to hijack this thread, but isn't a heavier cardstock prone to splitting when you score it? This is why I haven't tried a thicker cardstock. Am I wrong?

I use my score pal and on the PTI cardstock it's totally fine. But I think in general yes.

I guess it would depend on what colors Papertrey comes up with but I think I would probably just supplement my SU cardstock with Papertrey colors. I think the Papertrey white is absolutely the best white cardstock out there and I agree that SU's white is a bit flimsy in comparison. But the colored SU cardstock actually seems a bit heavier than their white and I am happy with it. Plus, I love having the matching markers. So I will probably end up getting the Papertrey paper as a supplement. One can never have too many colors to work with YKWIM?
I'm never switching. I love SU cardstock. I've used others and just like SU better. I'm happy with everything about it. I may occasionally purchase a sheet or two of designer paper and I'm always willing to TRY other stuff. Other than that, I'm good with what I have.
It looks like the colors are very similar to SU!'s River Rock and Soft Sky. Is there any DT member who has seen it and can describe the shades in relation to those colors? I'm NOT criticizing PTI, I'm just trying to do damage control on my wallet for the 15th! LOL Heck, I'll probably end up with both just 'cause of the weight! (I'm easily enabled. )
I'm realizing that I have to quit SU demo because of the $300/quarter requirement. Not only do I already own everything I want to buy...but I'm not financially in a position to spend that kind of money on SU, and still buy the other stamping stuff I want from other sources.
I LOVE Papertreyink quality, designs, etc. Although I'm not throwing away any of my SU stock, I will be focusing on Papertrey. Knowing that Papertrey is going to fill the gap for me, makes me rest easier about dropping SU.
I love SU's cardstock, but I have to admit the majority of my CS comes from JoAnne's or any other place that it's cheap. The die cuts with a view paper is constantly on sale cheap and I've always been happy with the quality and made the colors work. I always by super cheap white at Walmart and just do fronts out of the colors (like I said...I'm cheap I'd rather save my $$ for stamps and punches.
I just had a thought. Nichole does mostly one layer cards. If you used 110lb cardstock in layers, your card might weigh 5 lbs! Hmmmmm...never thought of that. Might just have to buy the special colors I like when I want to make one layer cards.

I actually DID think of this, but then I assured myself that I'll just hoard this for card bases (and buy the smaller packs), like I do with my white PTI paper (though I use that for stamping on, too - awesome for coloring!)!
No.
I absolutely love the SU cardstock -- the weight is just perfect I think. Yeah, the white and vanilla are lightweight in comparison, but I never use them as a base so it's not a biggie to me.
Also, the 110lb cardstock would get really heavy with a lot of layers.

Reason: type . . . again.
Since Papertrey is coming out with the cardstock and everything to match, yes I would switch in a heartbeat. Their materials are such good quality, so I know I would be switching to something good.
Both have their places. I scrapbook, so I like a lighter weight cardstock if I am going to do a lot of layers and mats on my pages. Plus, if you scrap, Paper Trey is not offering 12 x 12.
However, if I was making a single layer card, or an origami box, etc., I would prefer the heavier cardstock.
I don't think it's one of the other. I think it depends what your purpose is and the project you are creating.
Oh I'm gonna BUY it almost all though. Just not abandoning my SU cardstock. I have room in my heart for two companies' cardstocks.
EXACTLY what I was thinking. I'm sure that their colors won't be exactly the same. It'll be like upgrading to the newest, largest box of Prismacolors or Crayola Crayons, you can never have too many colors to choose from! ;)

I really like the weight of my colored SU cardstock. It's the white that seemed too flimsy for me (I use white as a base all the time ... no layers). I LOVE PTI White and will never go back but I think I'll stick with SU for my colored stuff ... I like how everything matches and like I said, I am pleased with the weight and don't think I would want anything heavier.

I didn't think about that ... it WOULD be nice to have a heavier weight for some of the boxes and stuff ... I'll check it out!
I will be giving the PTI paper a try. I love being able to order from PTI online. No waits for someone else to place my order. I love the fact that if I order $40 I get a benefit, free shipping. I also love that they send their stuff asap. Of course I will have to see what the rest of her colors look like. I love the pinks and chocolate browns from SU.
No, I will definitely not switch over. I love SU cardstock, especially how all of their colors coordinate with the DP, ribbon, buttons, brads.....on and on.
However, I will probably order a pack or two to see how I like it, but as a previous poster said, it does look kind of close to River Rock and Soft Sky.
I actually purchased a package of the Papertrey white cardstock and didn't like it near as well as SU's whisper white. To me, whisper white has a smoother finish and is a much brighter white.
I like having a broad color selection and blues, greens, pinks and browns would be my favorite shades so I will be buying some of the paper so I can expand my color horizons. And hope the next two colors she introduces next month are a pink and a brown!
I like to compare prices...PTI gives the price per sheet & with a $40 purchase there's no shipping charges. What is SU cardstock per sheet & then with SU there is always shipping & tax to add? Does anyone know SU price per sheet? That would be a deciding factor for me.
I love the weight of SU's color card stock and the way it coordinates with everything else SU. As for the white, I personally am not a big fan of using white for a base (if I need a light base I use white naturals or confetti white, which are heavier in weight and a bit more interesting that just white or vanilla) and the weight of SU's whisper white is just perfect for layering. Plus it's a great card stock to stamp on.
I just did a class at a local library earlier this week and one of the students was a very experienced stamper who uses all different suppliers. She loved the whisper white so much she asked me where I got it (SU- of course! Is there another supplier for stamping materials on this planet? LOL!). She loved the SU whisper white envelopes as well!
I adore SU cardstock, and haven't bought from PTI so I probably won't get theirs until the full color range is available. But this year I didn't need enough SU stuff to "stock up" during SAB- so I'm phasing it out in favor of Bazzil cardstock. I don't like it as much but I can use my "TAC budget" for it. Hopefully next year I'll need reinkers or other SU things and can buy stock up on cardstock as well.

I saw a blog where someone mentioned it will be the Palette inks she uses. Although she has not announced this yet, so this could be erroneous information.
But, if it is the Palettes, are they not available in only so many colors? Or has Nichole got that company to make her ink pads to match her paper?
I don't know of any Palettes that would match these 2 new colors of cardstock she has.
She did say coordinating inks. Hmm...wonder what inks she will choose?
If I were not an active SU demo, I'd try out the PTI cardstock. I just don't have the space to keep all of the SU colors plus additional companies' colors and inks and accessories in my stamp room.
I do love all that Nicole Heady does with PTI. I think it's all beautiful!
I agree with the quality of SU's whisper white envelopes, too. You would not believe how many of my customers are stunned at the quality of the envelopes..."They're so smooth!!!" LOL

I'm curious about the ink too. She says it is PTI "exclusive" products- so if she is just matching Palette inks, then that's not exclusive. She has to have someone (possibly Palette) manufactoring ink just for her.
I'm willing to try the PTI papers. Since there will be ribbon and inks that match I will be satisfied. (I don't use SU brads or buttons though.)
I think the main dividing line will be SU demo vs non-demo. Non-demos don't have anything to lose using the PTI stuff, but demos can't sell it and would be MUCH less likely to want to buy it.
I do quite a few one layer cards once I bought some PTI white card stock. Before that, all whites were too flimsy for me.

I often use lighter weight cardstock and also designer paper for the layers. But I will love to have a heavy weight for the base. Can hardly stand the waiting time for Spring Moss.
