Would the Scor-Pal Benefit Me??
I have the 12x12 Tonic tabletop paper trimmer for cutting and I use the Fiskars Rotary cutter to do all my scoring but I am HORRIBLE at it.
You have no idea how much cardstock I have thrown out in my feeble attempts to score to make boxes, etc....
So, I am going to the monthly swap that I am in at the LSS and they just got in the Scor-Pal and I can use my M's 40% off coupon BUT I dont want to waste it on something else that I will never use or never learn how to use.
Is it hard to use?? Answer this from my prespective...I cant score even with the markings on the paper...I dont know why, I just cant...and I cant measure worth squat!
So can I learn how to use this?? Is it hard to figure out?
It's so totally easy to use and lightweight as well.
The inventor is a SCS to boot. Have you checked out her website? Definitely not a purchase you would regret if you're having trouble scoring or do a high volume of projects with measuring and folding.
Scor like never before!
It's a board, that your paper can lay flat on. even a whole sheet of 12x12 lays flat.
In the surface of the board are dents, like tracks. There is a folding/scoring tool attached to the board. It pops out. It's like a bone folder, only better, not sure why it just is. So you figure out which line you are scoring on. It's marked with inches and some other common measurements. There is one for folding a normal sized card in half. So you pick your line and just poke the folder thingie into the paper right on top of the track you are using. Drag it down. (It doesn't catch or act funny, this is part of what makes is great)
Then you will have a BEAUTIFUL straight score. You just fold right on it. You can smooth your fold even more with your fingers or that same score/fold tool.
Did that help any? I promise it's not hard. I was THRILLED to pay full price and shipping, if I could have used a coupon I would have just died of joy.
OH! will your LSS demo it for you? They should, that's one of the awesome things about LSS's.

I'm math challenged!!!! Numbers are not my game....I like mine, but only use it for cards...I've never made a box or anything....I found it confusing at first....but I'm OK now. I have the first one..I hear they have a new and improved version...you'll be fine...go for it!!
I thought it sounded silly until I borrowed one and used it a few times. I absolutely would not be without it. I have done boxes, bags, odd fold cards and just this week I did the tops and bottoms for 21 nugget boxes in about 15 minutes. When I have a box like that to do I write down my own special instructions for it....like: left edge, score at 2-1/8 and 4-1/4, move to 1-1/2 and score at...whatever. Anyway, I have a little list of stuff I keep clipped to the back of the ScorPal which leans against one side of my desk by my feet so it's always handy.
You can not beat the Scor-Pal. I can't believe that I lived without one for so long. Don't walk out to get it....run! It is so easy to use and I can't beleive what a difference it makes in the look of your cards. Perfectly folded and even.
You really do need it. I never used to make boxes or fancy-fold cards, and now I do all the time! I used to get so frustrated w/my Fiskars scoring blade. Ugh. Now I whip up gate fold cards, tri-fold cards, small boxes, anything ! And no more wasted cardstock.
I just got one as a holiday gift from my best friend (thanks, Michele!). I love it! So easy to use, even for someone who is spatially and measurement challenged like me--I swear, I can't make a straight line even with a ruler! I'm finding that the Scor-Pal is making a huge difference for me.
