The big shot is the way to go, it is larger so it can handle the larger size dies.
Since when? It's been a while since I've used a CB, but it always handed the same size dies as the BS. Now, the Big Shot Pro does handle bigger dies, but that machine costs quite a bit more.
I have a BS. If I were to do it again, I'd consider the Bug. The BS does not fold up at all and is a space hog. You still have to hold it down to crank it too. The CB folds up small and is quite portable, but you do have to put some pressure on it to keep it firmly on the table when you run tight sandwiches through. They used to have suction cup on the bottom and I assume they still do, but that never seemed to do much for holding it down after it'd been used for a while.
The Cricut is a completely different type of machine. The BS and CB cut using pressure and you have to use dies to cut your images. You cannot cut anything without a die and you cannot cut any sizes that are different than the dies. The Cricut is an electronic cutter that uses a blade to cut the paper. The Expression can be hooked up to your computer, with the right software. If you have the software and know how to use it, then you are pretty limitless on what you can cut within the Cricut's size parameters. However, if you only use the cartridges, then you are limited to the images on the cartridges. You can also change the sizes of what you cut with the Cricut. There are other things that you can do with it too, but that's the main gist.

Your OP wasn't clear on whether you were choosing between the CB, BS and Cricut Expression or whether you already had an Expression at home. Do a search on here as the pros and cons of a the CB and BS have been discussed many, many times.

I have owned both the CB and BS and I prefer the BS. The CB is compact if you have limited space or you need to take it with you a lot, but the BS is more sturdy and I find that I only needed to run my die cuts through the BS once where as with the CB I some times had to run it through several times for it to cut properly. I would order extra of the cutting plates if you plan on doing a lot of die cuts. Either way you can't go wrong.
BIg shot or big kick. I LOVE my BS. It's a work horse, isn't too pretty anymore but I can cut anything and everything with it (felt, cork, sandpaper, thin metal sheets, etc) and it works with absolutely any die on the market so my options are unlimited. I consider it one of the best crafting investments I have made.

Definitely Big Shot over Cuttlebug. The BS can cut through multiple layers of cardstock plus other materials like thin metal, fabric, chipboard, etc. The CB can't. Also the multipurpose platform that comes with the BS is WAY better because it shows what the sandwich layers are for all different types of dies, folders, etc. The CB's doesn't.

I ordered my first CB when they first came on the market, I loved it and it did everything I needed it to. I finally had to bury it last summer and ordered another. In my opinion it wasn't as good as my first, cutting wasn't as good as well as the cranking. I did some research on the Big Shot, found a great deal on Amazon and haven't looked back! Space isn't a big issue for me, but now that I have it I will make room if I need too!! Like another poster mentioned, it cuts through cardstock (many layers), felt and cork beautifully in only 1 time through. I also like the look of impression plates and embossing folders better with my bs as well!
