Ok, I've finally decided to use my cricut that has been boxed up of about a year. I spent a good portion of today "playing".
Now what type of paper do you all use? My SU paper won't cut worth a darn. I've tried different settings, pressure, mutlit-cut etc. but I'm still not getting a good cut even with the thinner DSP.
The limited Bazzil paper I have is not doing much better. I'm trying to cut letters for a scrapbook and am getting very, very frustrated. Don't know if maybe I should box it all back up and get rid of it.
I know how you feel. When I tried mine, it was the same problem... I change blades. Also, some people mention the position of the blade. Google it, as I cannot remember.
Hope this helps,
Luiza
Did you try to remove and put the blade in again. Could be the blade, but it probably the settings on the cutting. I got this off this site and printed it out and taped it to my cricut.
Paper #65 (thin ususally 1 sided) Speed=Max, Pressure=High, Blade Depth=4
Paper #80 (plain cardstock, prob SU too) Speed=High, Pressure=Max, Blade Depth=5
Bazzill-Speed=Low, Pressure=Max, Blade Depth=6
For Info (#1 on dial is low, 2..,3..,4..,5 is High) for speed
For Info (#1 on dial is low, then 5 is Max) for pressure.
I hope this helps, I have to look at this everytime I use it, tape it to your machine.
I had the same issue when I first started. I switch from the green housing & blade that came with the cricut to the Deep Cut Housing & Blade (it's a blue color). Since then, I haven't had a problem with cutting on SU papers or any thick papers. The blade that comes with the Cricut does not cut through thick cardstock. Hope this helps!
I have both the original Cricut and Expression and gave up trying to cut the Stampin' Up paper, not worth wasting time on it. I've never gotten a clean, crisp cut.
I use American Craft paper or WorldWin or Bazzill paper. I get a clean, crisp cut every time.
The thicker/heavier the paper, the higher number for Pressure, the lower number for Speed. Also more intricate images require a slower Speed setting.
I use the green housing and regular blade for paper. I use the blue housing and deep cut blade for other than paper cutting. These materials may also require Multi Cut setting.
Yes, till you get used to using your machine it will take time to practice with various paper and settings to see what works for you and your machine.
Actually, you need to use high pressure and high speed to cut heavy cardstock. You would use a slower speed for more intricate cuts or thinner paper. Make sure that your blade depth is set to 5 or 6. Multicut should work with SU paper. It is possible that you have a bad blade, or that your blade and/or housing aren't installed properly. If you've tried everything, I would call PC customer service. They might be able to troubleshoot over the phone. Good luck.
I don't have any trouble cutting SU paper...I put the pressure on 5, speed on 5 and my blade depth is set at 5 also using the regular blade that came with the cricut. It was trial and error in the beginning but after you use it you'll figure out what works for certain papers.
