I really like my crop-a-dile! I have used it mostly to punch holes and set snaps so far. Yes, I consider it easy to use and the directions were clear to me.
I bought mine with a 40% off coupon at Michaels. They will also take JoAnns coupons, so ask about that if you get the joAnns ones.
I am looking forward to using my c-a-dile to punch holes in chipboard letters to tie ribbon through or set eyelets or snaps. I think you would find it useful, but that's just my opinion.
Good luck deciding!

I love mine. I really hated eyelets - NOT ANYMORE!!!!! This thing punches through two chipoard coasters at the same time...with no effort! I took it to a church craft night last week and the ladies working on the cards loved using it too!
I forgot to add...I found mine at Hobby Lobby and used a 40% off coupon

I really resisted getting "another" eyelet punch and setter. But I have been using mine over and over for chipboard and metal containers. It even punched a hole in one of those metal bottle caps. I do wish there was a smaller hole punch on it. My sister purchased one and she has carpal tunnel syndrome. I didn't think she'd be able to comfortably use it but it is very easy to grip and squeeze. Punches like butter!!
I got mine at Michaels with a 50% off coupon that they offered a couple of months ago.
I have one. I love it for setting eyelets easily and hole punching. I used it on a cd that I was altering and it punched right through.
I bought mine at Michaels with a coupon.
I agree with everything everyone has said. I LOVE mine. I use it all the time. It is so handy and all in one...just do not forget to save the back instructions. I bought mine w/ a coupon too.
I also love mine I had originally gave all my eyelets away what a fool now I am slowwly buying them all back now The crop a dile is so awesome you'll wonder how you ever did without it once you get it.

I totally love mine....I have shoulder problems and don't have a problem at all now setting eyelets

You'll wonder why you didn't buy it sooner!!!!!!

I purchased mine off of ebay for less than 20.00 - once I figured out that I was using upside down, and fixed my goof, I now love it. I've punched new holes in my dads and daughters belts and I've set eyelets.
Down fall - it's pink had to throw that in! Oh, and the handle is big, so its hard for me to grip at first.
I really like it, saw them first at a convention. MY SIL got one, and when I saw her use it, had to have my own. My suggestion is to copy the directions larger. The printing is so small, make it fit an 81/2 x 11" paper. I also didn't see the little numbers and letters on the blocks until I looked very closely.

This thing is awesome. You can punch holes through leather, wood, cd's.i love it. the only drawback is i which the reach was a little longer, you can only go so far into a piece of paper.........If any one did loose the directions... very easy tip to remember..........
A and 1
B and 2
C and 3
D and 4
thats how i remeber what goes with what....................
but trust me, it is worth it!!!

Because you never realized you liked using eyelets until you get one. I've found myself using tons more eyelets and brads than I used to. It just makes it soooo easy!
I've been hearing about this crop-a-dile. So, what makes it so special? Is it easy to use? Where is the best place to get one? TIA!
I used one this weekend at a scrapbook store open house. It was so easy, my 10 dd could punch through two layers of heavy chipboard! It was very easy to set eyelets, too. I will definitely be getting one! The lady at the scrapbook store said the main disadvantage was that it couldn't set eyelets or punch a whole in the middle of your paper.

True, but I will just make a layer that I can reach into and attach to the base. Thats how I punched the holes in the flower centers (to attach brads) on this card...
Just go get it! You know you want it! I adore mine and won't part with it! My eyelets were languishing in a drawer for two years...now I can't get enough of them!
I know you've already decided but just in case someone else was wondering. I like to hammer my eyelets. I prefer it to using the Crop-a-dile but have used it because it was more handy than looking for my hammer and setter. I LOVE my Crop-a-dile for making paper bag books and mini books and covered notebooks. I just made a bunch of notebooks for a craft fair and could never have done it that fast with an ordinary hole punch. It's heavy duty use is a God send for me.

You beat me to it! I was just going to say it is a must for paperbag books. I could never have punched a whole through 3 bags folded in half with out it!

I got one a while back (maybe Labor Day timeframe?) with a 50% off coupon at the M store...the clerk had NO CLUE what a Crop a Dile was but helped me search the store and we both came up empty. About 10 minutes later she came running back to find me saying, "is this it??" and yes, it was!
So, I bought it since it was 50% off and everyone raved about it so highly. I was tres' impressed by the ease of punching thru stuff but must confess that the only thing I have really punched was a few chipboard coasters...but oh my, how easy was that!!! Jan
don't bop me. You don't NEED it. You might love it, crave it, use it. But, you don't NEED it. I thought I HAD to have a Scor It, a Silent Setter, a whatever. What I really need is more time!!

I just got one and I dont like it I wasted my money and 50% off coupon, It is hard to line the eyelets in the paper to get them to stay while Trying to get the Eyelet setter lined up. Oh and then trying to sqeeze that handle...isnt working for me to wide and big handles.I dont like the fact you have to do your settings in the air and not on a flat surface(I tired to have it rest on the table and to set) makes it a bit difficult to work with. I really cant see what I am doing as well as I do with my Provo Craft Silent setter. I am a bit disappointed. Maybe in time I can grow to like it or use it better but the handle thing is what will be my biggest issue I have. Oh well I guess. I will continue to use both. I wont give up trying.
I had to have it, got it. It's ok... don't crucify me. It makes really great holes in thick stuff but is slightly bulky and at times tough to manage. It doesn't punch way up into the cardstock or whatever and I'll have to try the tutoral but so far, I haven't been able to get the stupid eyelets to stay put long enought for me to wrap that crop-a ...stuff around. However, it does go through stuff with amazing ease.
Besides, you family will get a belly laugh when you pull it out and announce what it's called and see how big it is. My DS (11 yrs old), in the midst of laughter, asked it was something people use for jail breaks.
The crop-a-dile is special because you can punch through things now that you would have had to drill through before. I used it to punch through the tin to make thisGallery at Splitcoaststampers ornament and the next one in my gallery. I also use the crop-a-dile to punch through chipboard, microscope slide holders (which are made out of chipboard), balsa wood and metal. It is super easy to use. Again it's major drawback is it's "reach" and the depth of material you can punch through. Sometimes I have to jimmy the microscope slide holder to be able to work it into place to punch and then it mars the surface of the slide holder slightly. So I wish it would punch deeper and thicker stuff because it certainly has the power to do it. Punching is a breeze.
can anyone give tips on how to actually use the cropadile to set eyelets because my eyelets are always falling out before I can set them. Whats your secret?

Here's my secret - insert the eyelet into place on the top of your project. Then insert the little "needle" like point into the eyelet and squeeze. It has worked like a charm for me doing it this way. Anyone else with tips out here in cyberworld?
