The A-2 size (4 3/8x 53/4) envelopes- also known as "invitation size" I have been buying at WalMart have changed to a larger size, and are more expensive. To top it off, I can only find them in a cream color.
Well, I am sure I am not the only one who goes through envies like crazy, so I am wondering where you all get yours. I googled for them and was overwhelmed. I did find a place that sells them in different quantities and the prices really go down as you buy more. I thought 500 for $42.90 was really good and figured maybe I can split them with a friend (I really don't need that many!). But, then you add the shipping of $12.54 and it's not all that great anymore. But, it's still the best I have seen.
I would love to know where you ladies get your envelopes. Thanks, as always!!
Serveral months back our ACMoore had the Letterpress stuff on sale for 40% off. I bought up all the envelopes they had while on sale.. and then they offer a 10% military discount as well. I think they ended up being around $3.00 a pack and they are "really" nice envelopes.. not the thin ones.
Back in the fall I got a bunch of envelopes at Ollie's for only .59 cents a box.. these are the invitation ones that are the same brand that Walmart sells. I think that there are 50 or 60 in each box.. I truly wish I had bought more that day other than the 10 boxes I bought.. I send cards to Iraq and include envelopes so that the soldiers can send the cards back home to their loved ones.. my stash is about out.
thanks for starting the thread.. I would love to see some ideas on where to get some good deals on envelopes.

This is close to what I found googling. For 500, the shipping is a little cheaper here, so the total would be $40.98. The place I found came to be $42.90. And since you say their shipping is fast, and quality is great, this is super.
I think I may order from them unless someone else knows somewhere better.
Thank you!!
Thanks, Lynn! I may need some clear envies down the road, but I am really looking for white ones now. I do use lots of the SU! clear envies, and I am sure I could save $$ looking elsewhere, so I will keep this in mind. Thanks!
I get mine (white and ivory) from my local newspaper. I can get plain white envelopes, 250 in a box for $16. They have tons of other sizes/colors too, but i stick with the standard white and ivory.
Although, I am looking for a source for Kraft colored envelopes in bulk.

Yay Lynn! Thank you! I thought that was just for clear envies; I didn't know they carried white ones :-)
Well, you've come up with the best price so far: For 500 with tax and shipping, it would be $36.03 total! That's only $7.21 per 100! I am sure SU!'s are fancier, but theirs are $6.50 for 40- and that is before tax and shipping!
I think I'll get these. But please let me just ask: how do you like the quality (I mean I guess you do since you buy them, lol) but seriously, what are they like? Are they really thin? And how quick is their shipping?
I am very pleased with the quality (much better than the ones Walmart used to sell) and they ship very quickly. I always receive my order within 4 or 5 days.

Wow!!!
Now I have to ask (and forgive me for not knowing!) what exactly do you do with them all? I take it from your siggy you send cards to troops. Is that what all these envies you buy are for? Do you take card donations and then provide envies to go with them?
Amber and Lynn- I have a question about the clear envies:
There are a few that measure the same and I am a little confused.
I think the one I want is listed as: "5 7/8 x 4 1/2 + flap, Crystal Clear (150 x 114) 100 pack (B45)" Does this sound right to you???
Thanks again!
Don't forget to look on craigslist and at Estate sales. I've found several boxes of envelopes at several different estate sales over the years for CHEAP. I think I got 250 invitation size envelopes for $3 last time I bought them. Good luck!
I ususally get mine at Staples, Office Max or Office Depot. Yes they are expensive, $14.99 for a box of 100 invitation size. However, once a year, Staples as a grocery size paper bag that comes in the Sunday newspaper and you can fill it and get 50% off the entire contents of the bag (certain items excluded, i.e. furniture, computer stuff, etc.) The bag was in the paper just a few months back and I got like 10 boxes of envelopes that should last me a long time......just a thought ladies!
sarahstampart...I sell the clear envelopes in A2+ at $8.00 per 100 with free shipping..not sure about the website you are asking about. I use all the clear envelopes I buy and the white/ivory ones I buy for my cards to the troops project. All cards are packaged with a nice mailing envelope inside a clear envelope so they stay nice for the troops. I also donate cards to my church for the bookstore to sell and for the birthdays and anniversaries in the church. So I go through a LOT of envelopes both clear and the white or ivory. clearbags.com has good product. The revenue from my sales of clear envelopes helps me purchase the adhesives, cardstock, postage and mailing envelopes for my troops project and donations to the church. I hope I answered all your questions. I only sell the A2+ size (I sell other sizes but they are all plus size) so you can put a mailing envelope in with the card inside the clear envelope.
blessings.

I actually make all my envelopes! I buy a cheap pad of designer paper at Michael's with my 40% off coupon and then I use my either one of my numberous envelope templates or my Martha Stewart Scor board to make envelopes out of designer paper! I can make any size I want and they look so pretty! I then keep all my addresses in Microsoft Word label documents and then just print off a label when I need one.
It works out to not cost very much. I've gotten pads of paper for like $25 that have 300 sheets in them. That works out to like 8 cents per envelope!
