Default What's your favorite sizzlits Alphabet?

Please help me decide on a purchase of the Sizzlits Alphabets.

What is your top 3 favorites?

Are they easy to use?

Do you have a picture in the gallery using the sizzlets on a layout or card?

Please help!

I love Girlz are Weird! I used it on cards (but didn't scan or take a picture before I gave them away), and also used it on a Halloween layout! There are some really cute ones out now! I wish I had gotten the newer ones rather than the bigger Sizzix ones separately! Even the Big Shadow box one is too big for anything but layouts.

I just purchased my 3rd set today (michaels 50% off coupon)! I have playground, girls are weird, and now funky brush. Love them all, but need to get back into scrapbooking so that I can REALLY start using them!

I have really been wanting to get Funky Brush. I like it because it is bigger than the other sizzlet alphabets, (it doesn't have a shadow) so it is almost as big as the Sizzlet.

Here's a link to a scrapbook page (part of a 2 pg spread) in my gallery with Playground. It's the only set I have right now, and I absolutely love it! I scrap with 8.5 x11 and my friend does 12x12 - we both love using it on our pages and it's so easy. After I punch them, I run them through my xyron machine to put them together and on the pages.

Default sizzlits alphas

Do you need to have a xyron machine to adhere the letters?

What are the options for adhesive for these Sizzlit Alphas?

I have Lollipop, Script and Classic, they are all fun, I want to get Funky Brush, but they were out when I seen them on sale. The best adhesive is by far the Xyron. The Little sticker maker one works great for the sizzlets, need a larger one for letter sets.

Watch the sizzix website, they have what they call Tuesday Teasers every Tuesday, never know what you may find on there too. Last Week they had all the alpha sets for $89.99 on like a one day sale. They also have a spot called Specials.

I have a few other dies, the simple impressions embossing folders are really neat and fun too. I want to get some of the new doodle dies. I ordered a baby set, hope they come soon so i can try them out.

I just looked in my catalog, and no they do not make gable boxes for them, the beds on them are too small for that.

Also, if you are interested in like stacking tags, they have lots of tag dies, but they really do not match up to layer them. They have one small set that has its own layers, but not all that big. I do use them though. Good luck on your venture. You will love what ever you choose.

Hope this helps somewhat.

I have Girls are Weird, Script & Playground. I use & love them all. I would probably say the Girls are Weird is probably my favorite, but I guess it depends on what you use it for. They are all so different.

I just got the Sizzix Sidekick -- small portable machine & it's wonderful for the Sizzlits. I like it much better than the big machine. I was having a horrible time with the Sizzlits not cutting all the way through the cardstock with the big machine, but with the smaller one, it's perfect every time.

I have only one Sizzlets alphabet and I absolutely love it. I just bought Funky Brush two weeks ago and have already had a lot of fun with it. It doesn't have a shadow, but it's really cute.

I have Funky Brush, Bounce and Wet Paint. I love all of them, I really wanted Girls are Wierd, but they were out.

In deciding, figure out the following (this helped me decide)
1. Do you want a shadow? I have bounce and it has a shadow, you can use it with the shadow or without for 2 different looks.
2. Do you want the 5/8 size or the bigger 3/4 inch ones? The smaller ones tend to have a shadow while the bigger ones do not.
3. Are you mainly scrapping for boys or girls? Funky brush is adorable on little girl pages.
4. What is your style? Pick one that you love the look of, you won't regret that!

Once you answer those questions, it really narrows down you decision.
Hope that helps.
Denise

P.S. I'll be getting Girls Are Wierd next!

I have Playground, Girls are weird and Rat-A-Tat. I use Playground the most but LOVE Rat-A-Tat. Have been working on my wedding album so the Rat-A-tat dont really fit in...can not wait to get back to the kids albums to use it. I too use xyron to adhesive them down, tried other things, the xyron sticker maker (the X like machine) works really well just the right size and easy to travel with.

I have Girls Are Weird, Script, Playground, Rat-a-Tat, and Funky Brush.

I got GAW first, and I found that I could use it on a variety of different kinds of pages. I even used it on a Heritage page!

I use Playground almost exclusively for kids' pages.

I never thought I would use Script, but I borrowed it from a friend at Christmas and used it so much that I bought my own. It can definitely be used in many different ways.

Funky Brush is my newest one and I like it because it's a lot larger than the others, although it does not have a shadow.

And Rat-A-Tat I am having trouble using. I thought I would love it but I haven't played with it enough to love it to death like I do the others.

I probably won't even get Bounce because I find it to be very similar to Playground and for that kind of money I won't duplicate a font. Ditto for Boxed Brush, since it is similar to Funky Brush, which I have. Ditto again for Graffiti, because I think it's similar to GAW. (Also, I borrowed Graffiti to do a page for my DD, and everyone who sees the page "misreads" the title because the font is hard to read, IMO.)

If I had to buy them all over again, I'd go with GAW first again. It has never let me down! Have fun with your new Sizzlets, whichever one you get!

I have Wet Paint and absolutely love it! The size is great and it's just so easy.

I have found that the Xyron is the easiest way to adhere these, but I would think that most of us have a Xyron (or 2) at home anyway.

I have Girlz Are Weird, Rat-a-Tat, and Boxed Brush. I like the funky layered look of Girlz. I like the classic serif styling of the Rat A Tat center letters. I haven't used the circles yet. I love the Wordsworth style of Boxed Brush although I haven't used that set yet - I am going to use them for a tag swap I am doing. I got Girlz and Boxed Brush with 50% off coupons at various times. I got Rat A Tat for 45% off as a Tuesday special at Sizzix.com.

You guys know they run Tuesday only specials online. They are good from Midnight to Midnight Pacific time at Sizzix.com. There is typically a Sizzlet alphabet available at 45% off. This week it is Playground. You have got about 3 hours left for this week.

I run 1.5" strips through my Xyron Little X and use that to diecut my letters. Works like a charm.

Good luck with your decision. Those alphabets are addicting. I am hoping there are still some sets left at Mikes come Friday. I would like to get the Sizzlet Window and Frame Making set at 50% off ;)

vdoyle8, It's YOUR fault! I Checked eBay, and I got Funky Brush for $70 + shipping. . . It was one of those 1AM bids that you aren't sure if you really want to win, and I won. After debiting the money from my Paypal account, I'm still not positive that I'm glad I won! Seriously, I figured that I wouldn't get it for less thatn half price anywhere else. NOw I just have to USE it. Thanks for the suggestions, ladies!

Oh no!! I'm sorry (kinda). Isn't it such a rush to get these at such good prices? I admit -- ebay could become a problem for me ... if I get tired of buying scrapping & stamping stuff, there is always Longaberger & Polish Pottery! Makes my dh very nervous!
enjoy your new sizzlets -- let me know how you like that font -- I can feel my ebay fingers itching!!

I have them all, but 4 I've not used yet. I've had them for a while now too. I would have to say that I love all of them, but tend to use BOUNCE and SCRIPT the most.

I use my little Xyron X for adhesive. It's great and so inexpensive.

The Sizlets are easy to use. My kids use it often. It's been one of my best investments.

Marlo -- do you use the big Sizzix machine or the smaller Sidekick? I just bought the sizzix yesterday and haven't had a chance to try the sizzlet dies in it yet. Someone wrote that their sizzix didn't cut the sizzlet dies very well... have you had any problems? I want to know while I can still return my sizzix if I need to
Would you believe i don't own a xyron? Do you use the little "x" shaped one for the letters?

Vicki,

I have the large original Sizzix. This is what I use. I think in the beginning I had maybe one die that didn't cut all the way. I used extra shims to solve it. I do know that several gals in the beginning were having this problem and Sizzix kinda replaced those dies. I wouldn't worry too much about that.

I do use the little "X" for my alphabits. I have a larger Xyron, but it would be a waste to use that one. The "X" is perfect.

Also with your Sizzix machine, you could use QK dies. You will need to use 3 of those white plastic pads. It's so worth it.

Thanks for the info, Marlo! I bought the "X" tongith with my 30% off coupon at Michaels -- along with about $80 worth of other goodies! I should have left my 9 yr old dtr home -- we had quite a little shopping spree!

Thanks for heads up on the QK dies. Do you still need three white plastic pads if you have the sizzlet converter? (and do you just stack them on top of each other?)
