:( I've had my CB about a year as my DH gave it to me for Christmas last year.
Now what I'm noticing is that when I try to use my embossing folders or die cut using my nesties, only HALF the image is cut or embossed when I run it through the machine. I then have to turn the image around and run it through again for it to completely cut or emboss the entire image/shape. I'm pretty sure I'm using the correct sandwich and I do shim with 2-3 layers of CS.
I have had a portion of the nestie not cut clean if I was using a "B" Plate on top that was too warped. Otherwise I would double check your "Stacking" formula!! Hopefully you get an answer here so you can really enjoy you bug!!

I agree, I would check your top B plate. It may need to be replaced. Do you allways run it though the same way? Try running it through up side down. I always flip mine to help with the warping.
B plate warpage is the biggest culprit. I try and flip them over and alternating which one goes on top. I also have 2 sets of spares on hand at all times.
In fact I keep one set to JUST emboss with so they don't warp as badly, if at all.
A plate
B plate
Cardstock
Nestie cut side down
C Plate
When I am cutting I haven't found that I need a shim. I do agree with the others about fliping the B plate when you are using it to keep the warping from getting to bad. HTH

I use the same sandwich as jackie. you want to have the cut side on your b plate. they are easier to find and cheaper to replace than the c plate.

I agree about cutting against the B plate because it's easier to replace than a C plate. My sandwich is similar, just a different order. From the bottom up:
A plate
C plate
Nestie die, blade up
Cardstock, face down
B Plate

i do this too.. it's apparently bad for your dies to cut with the blade side down. and i don't like cutting my C plate, so this is how i do it.

Thank you sooo much! I am going to try it this way tonight and will post how it worked tomorrow. Gosh I just love this site as I sure appreciate all the info!!! SCS rocks!
oh, I hadn't heard that. I guess I will switch my sandwich to that. I don't want to ruin anything.
yah when the CB came out they had designers on the website make videos and somone showed their CRACKED FONT plate that snapped when it was run through upside down!!! i was like, YIKES.. and never did THAT again. lol

The only reason I don't do it this way (nestie blade up), is that you can't see the image you are trying cut around. If the nestie is put in with the cutting side down with the cs underneath it, you are able to see the stamped image on the cs and center it perfectly. Others have mentioned that this could damage the nestie blade - perhaps so, but I have seen no damage occuring and am willing to take a chance for the convenience of a satisfying result.

why don't you flip the position of the c plate and the b plate? that way you're still cutting into the b plate, but you can still have your nestie flipped? since the stack is the same height no matter what, shouldn't it work if you just switch the location of your plates?
just a thought...

You probably misunderstood the point I was trying to make. I wasn't addressing the issue of the plates, or the the way they are stacked,I was merely commenting about how the Nestie was placed on the plates. My point was that I like to be able to see the stamped image that I am cutting and for that to happen the Nestie needs be on top of the image with the blade facing down toward the cs. Hope that makes sense.
Well, I switched the B and C plates around, so that I was cutting into the B plate and not the C. Yes, my B plates are sadly warped, I found. Yet, even with using a brand new B, which I had on hand, I was only able to cut or emboss half the image. Then my DH suggested that I turn my embossing folder or nestie w/cs around and run it through the CB for another pass. Well, this did the trick and I had a completely embossed or cut image. I don't understand what is wrong with my CB, but if I'm willing to take the time to do this, my CB works fine.

I'm wondering if your CB has gotten looser over time. I know mine has and sometimes depending on what I'm embossing I have to add an extra sheet or two of cardstock or else it doesn't emboss enough, KWIM?
I really think something in the adjustments has gotten looser...as everything slides through too easily, UNLESS I add cardstock. My DH volunteered to TAKE MY BUG APART and check it out!!!! YIKES....I just don't think I can let him do this! I have found a way to make my bug work...I just run things through(adding various amounts of cs) and then turn the sandwich around and run it through again. This is kind of a pain, BUT I'm not to the point where I want my bug dissected!!!
Thea more you describe what is going on with your Bug, the more I'm thinking you should call Provocraft and let them know what's happening with it. DO NOT let your DH take it apart because they will not replace it if he does that!
It's true that the machine loosens up a bit after it's been used for awhile, but it shouldn't loosen up to the point that it won't emboss or die cut with the first pass of the paper through the machine. Something is wonky with your machine and jiggering with it isn't going to make it better. :( It's worth a phone call (don't e-mail, you need to talk to a live body!), to find out if they are willing to replace the machine.
Thanks to the above poster "Boss" for the information. Here's what I've done. I tried to call Provocraft directly and was on hold for 5 minutes and hung up. Then I researched their site and found that the warranty on the CB is up to one year with the original packaging and receipt. I'm uncertain as to if I still have the receipt and the box, but when I get home this evening, this will be the first thing I look for! Provided I have these and it's been less than a year(I'm afraid that it's been slightly over a year) I could return my bug to the retailer for a replacement.....so..wish me luck and we'll see....

I know what you mean about not being able to see the image...here's what I do in that case:
I center my image in my nestie and then put it down on my C plate (cutting side up) and then hold it over my head so I can see it's still in place and then put the B plate on top of it all and just make sure it's still in place before placing the whole enchilada in my CB. (just imagine crazy lady holding things over her head! LOL!)

Good luck! Hope they replace it. I swear it's Murphy's Law that something will break as soon as the warranty is up!
Merry Christmas!

When I have a finished image (colored, etc) I want to cut with a Nestie shape, I get it set up the way I want on the c/s than use a little scotch tape-the frosted looking one (non-permanent)-on the Nestie edge and onto the c/s that will be cut away and discarded. Doing it this way keeps the image where I want it than I make the sandwich and run it through the CB-works for me.
