Okay so after hearing all the RAVE on hear over them, I bought 2 bottles. Am I missing something here or are they nothing more than over priced glitter glue? Cause I swear it's the same thing that I have sitting on my shelf that's in a bottle three times the size, and that cost half the price. LOL! Maybe i'm missing something here, but glitter glue has been around forever. Help me out ladies.
I love them compared with cheaper glitter glue is how fine the tip is. All the others the glitter comes out too thick and I like it thin to outline words or images!
I love Stickles ... I just find them easier to use than a huge bottle of glitter glue. The tip is small and I can use them to define snowbanks, glitter up the edge of a sun ... that kind of thing. So, yes, glitter glue has been around forever but Stickles are just way more fun!
When Stickles first came out, I went and bought the big bottles of cheap glitter. I tried out Stickles at a friends. Now I always tend to use Stickles due to the smaller nozzle. Hope that helps.
i like stickles because i seem to be able to find better colors than the cheaper glitter glue..i too like it because it comes out in a finer line, not a big glob.

They are great to add a little bling to your project, but do need time to dry. I have switched to using the gel pens stardust collection. They add bling and you don't really need to wait for drying.
Try the Joanns brand. It has a fine tip and I have never had the huge glob come out like I did with my christmas red stickles. Oh well, different strokes for different folks I guess. But I'm sticking with my cheap glitter glue. LOL!
I also like the Stickles because of the fine tip (easier control) and the quality and amount of glitter in the glue. And I rarely have clogging issues. If so, a needle does the trick. Also, there are LOTS of colors to choose from, matching projects perfectly.
I bought the cheaper glitter glue in the bigger bottle, and it seemed very gloppy and took a long time to dry. I didn't use that much either! My mom has the stickles, and uses them on her flower stamps and punches. She loves them. I have yet to buy any. I like the stardust pen and glitter pens more.
I use the cheap glitter glue if there is a color I like and I am not trying to make a small line or dot. Got some at OTC that has a nozzle like the Stickles, even. But I just LOVE the Stickles colors--like Black Diamond and Waterfall. So I use both!
Also, I am not sure about the cheap glitter glue in scrapbooking.

I have seen the big bottles of glitter glue, but never purchased either.
I just put a dot or line of white glue, sprinkle with fine glitter, tap extra off into the trash, and waaa laaa.

I think the stickles is so much better than the cheaper glitter glues is because of the colors and light-catching quality of the glitter. Most stickles varieties contain multiple colors of individual glitters that combine to give the glue it's overall color. This gives the final product a richer, more dimensional look.
the other difference i noticed compared to cheap glitter glues are there is more glitter than glue. i find the cheapies are "watery" and its not because glitter gets stuck.
Stickles aren't over priced to me, because i use them. $ store glue is more expensive because it just sits there.
Art instutute has a steel really fine tip that fits on just about any tip, I love it. As for cheap glue not having much glitter, why not add some ultrafine glitter to the bottle or sprinke some on top of your work. when it is dry brush of the excess with a soft make up brush
while thats an idea, and have done it, when i use stickles its because i dont want to mess with glue & glitter. i have tons of ultra fine glitter as well as 15 bottles of stickles and i use them all depending on the need.
The glitter in the Stickles is finer and more irridesent (correct spelling?) When the cheap stuff dries, it just looks like glitter squares with no overall sheen.
They are great to add a little bling to your project, but do need time to dry. I have switched to using the gel pens stardust collection. They add bling and you don't really need to wait for drying.
I recently got some SAKURA (gel?) pens at a Japanese book store, and they are so glittery and shimmery, it blows me away. I second that motion!

I agree with those who have said the Stickles has more glitter vs. glue than the cheapie big bottles, is easier to apply because of the fine tip, and dries quicker.
As far as cost, I only use two colors, Crystal and Diamond, and the bottles last a long time. I've found that those colors reflect the color of the stamped image you put them on, so I don't need a lot of different colors.
Hobby Lobby has started carrying Stickles in a 3-pack, so you can use a 40% coupon and get them pretty cheaply.

Can't say I'm a big stickles fan... or glitter glue. I bought some, never use it, cause it always gets smudged before it's dried. So I just never use it anymore!
i use both Stickles and Regular glitter glue. I also use glitter loose, rhinestones.... anything sparkly basically LOL
i used to be a Stickles snob LOL where i SWORE i would only use Stickles, but then i found some really good Stickles-Like glues at Pearl Paint. there was a Diamond Glaze-Like glue as well. They were huge bottles (4 oz) and about $4 each. So now i am a Convert.... to the Other Side Of Stickles
i don't really like the type of Glitter Glue in the tubes (you get like 5 in a pack) because they always seem to dry up superfast.

PS the glues i use are called Jones Tones Fabric Crafts Paper Ultra-Paint. wwww.jonestones.com they make lots of colors and sizes. I own the Glitter line in Crystal Lites, and the Clear Gloss. But I'm looking to get a few more colors in the future now that i know these are good.
I started out as a cheapo and bought the cheap glitter glue with a coupon. I received a free bottle from Gina K a year ago and fell in love with it. I love the ultra thin nozzle for application and I usually apply it as the very last step for embellishments. That way they sit and dry for a bit before I handle it. I did have one bottle clog on me and I called Ranger and not only did they replace the bottle, they included a second bottle in a seasonal color absolutely free! I have about 10 bottles so far.
I love the Sakura gel pens too. They add a nice sparkle without the mess. I've been thinking about buying the copic ones - anyone have those?
I have the Sakura in clear and love them. I got the Copic Spica and was disappointed. They don't seem to have as much sparkle as the Sakura, plus they cost a little more.
I do wish Mike's would carry the Sakura clear, which I've never found there. I had to order the clear ones online.

I do the same, i use a Quickie Glue pen and fine glitter. I also love the clear stardust gel pens for a little sparkle.
The glitter in the Stickles is finer and more irridesent (correct spelling?) When the cheap stuff dries, it just looks like glitter squares with no overall sheen.
Stickles is also more "in scale" for smaller projects like cards, so the glitter squares don't dominate your project.
I don't find them expensive. Even a small bottle lasts a long, long time.
I have to say when i started out i swore i wouldn't buy a little bottle of stickles when i could pay the same and have a bottle of glitter glue 3 times the size a friend sent me a goodie parcel with some stickles in and i LOVE IT!!! The nib is smaller, the colour range is better, it doesn't flatten out so much as normal glitter glue and it's much more glittery. I have nearly all of them and only have one the clogs, a thin needle does the trick. They are awesome for adding accents especially snow on snowflakes etc! I love liquid pearls too!
