I see cards that are beautiful and the images are very shimmery but I don't know what people are using the creat this look. Is it a pen? It doesn't look like stickles....I am not sure. I gotta get some of whatever it is though!
Speaking of stickles - what are the new distress stickles?
I was reading a thread yesterday about a glue pad, where the person stamped the image on the glue pad, then paper, then sprinkled fine glitter over it. I'd never heard of that before!
There's shimmerz, pearlescent paint, glitter pens, heat & stick with glitter (or the glue pad with glitter), brilliance or encore inks......thankfully, there are lots of methods!!! If you link one card in particular, I'll bet someone here could give you a better idea of what that person used. :>:>
I love using the dazzling diamond dust technique. Stamp and color your image, ink the whole piece of cardstock that you stamped on with versamark, sprinkle with iridescent ice ep and hit it with the heat gun. Gorgeous! It's great for snow scene images.

I use Stickles by Ranger alot. I also run stuff thru my xyron. I don't have the best results with a glue pad but I think I would do better if I used the glue pad and then brayered on top of it to really smudge it in there.
I use the Sakura Stardust pen and love it. No mess, no fuss, dries fast and cheap! Gives a nice shimmer without seeming like gobs of glitter. I found a two pack at JoAnns. I also like to use it to go over the sentiment inside a card, gives a nice touch.
I use a Sakura glue Pen and various ultrafine glitters (if you want one "universal" color, I would suggest the one you buy at JoAnn's, it is with the embossing powders) on just about every card I make, you can take a peek at my gallery, but it just doesn't photograph that great. I have Stickles, but I like the glitter best...I have also just discovered "Shimmerz" but that opens a whole other can of worms, lol!
WOW looks like I have to go shopping!!!! he he he I will be buying this stardust pen I keep hearing you ladies mention....sounds easy!!!! Love the ideas!
I too love the glitter and glitz. I tried the palette glue pad and had no luck getting the glitter to actually stick. I found online that you must use it on glossy cardstock and heat activate the glue before adding the glitter. Then I found the Martha Stewert glue pad and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I like her glitters as well, nice big bottle and very nice fine glitter. Stamp and glitter, it really is that easy and the glitter sticks ...well most of it, if you've used fine glitter you probably already know you WILL be wearing some of it. ;) For small areas the glue pens are great. I did find with glitter glue that I had to use staz on ink or the ink bled when I applied the glue.
I just took a class at Archivers this week and we use a sparkling versamark pad to add a shimmery watermark image. It was REALLY pretty in a subtle way. The pads come in a Champagne color (gold toned) and a Frost color (silver toned). They retailed for $9.99 each. Santa is bringing me one of each for Christmas ;)
Ok..I REALLY want the above poster's opinion...Archiver's has 2 of these Dazzle Versamark ink pads on hold for me. Yet, I've heard from SEVERAL on the site that these are just not worth the money. PLEASE, you just used these inks, give me your opinion!!! Are these Dazzle versamark inks worth the cost investment or not???
I need to Call Archiver's today and tell them when I'm coming in to pick these up . Yet, should I tell them that I've changed my mind and let them go to someone else? PLEASE ADVISE!!!
Bellegirl, the effect is very subtle - You really only see the sparkle as the card moves, it's still a watermark, very light but with some sparkle. If you are really looking for BLING this is not it. I bought it because I thought it would be fun to use on some of my background stamps for some subtle shimmer and because I was thinking of using it to stamp some florishes over some old patterned paper to add some zip. I also wonder what it would be like if I used clear EP over it. Haven't tried this yet though. Since Santa won't bring them until Christmas I can't open them. However, you can probable ask the folks at Archivers to demo them before you buy. They were in the kits for the 10 Tags Classes (in case they say they don't have any opened).
I'm excited about getting it because I think they will be fun to play with.

I love the 2 way glue pen and glitter. You can put the glitter exactly where you want it with the pen. It works well for tracing lines and for putting glitter in small places.
i like to use the hairspray and pearl-ex. it gives a soft shimmery all over look. i love it with the bloomin beautiful flowers that have been watercolored!
Hobby Lobby just started carrying these Versamark Dazzle pads and you can either use your on-line coupon for 40% of or wait and see if they ever go on a 50% off sale with all the ink pads. Also, don't forget the Brilliance ink pads would do the same thing as the Dazzle pads but for less money! Again, not alot of bling but a subtle shimmer (esp. the Platinum Planet). The Fine Art Glitter (Barbara Trombley) is awesome for super glitz and goes on great with any glueing device. I'm a BIG DITTO on the Sakura Stardust pens - on sale at Joann's on-line for 2.99 for a pack of 2 ... makes a great gift for the crafter in your life, or teenager that wants to make an artsy project out of every assignment!
