Default What ink do you use when inking a CB folder?

I was hoping to get some suggestions on which ink you use when doing the inked folder technique? Personally I have tried distress inks, Colorbox Chalk ink and Colorbox pigment ink then heat embossed it also- I have found that chalk and pigment ink worked best and I really didn't care for distress ink due to uneven coverage. I am really looking for a die ink that will work good. I hate having to Heat Emboss pigment ink and well I didn't like the look of chalk ink in this technique. Any Suggestions please!! I am hoping to place an order soon- so I was hoping someone on this great board could lead me to a good ink to try..
Many Thanks
Sheena

I use pigment ink. Unless you're using glossy or coated cardstock, you shouldn't have to heat emboss it. It will just take a little longer to dry than dye-based inks.

Who makes SU ink? I know the colors are exclusive to SU but the formulation isn't. I remember reading somewhere on here about what brand name company thats makes this ink, but I can't find that posting right now. I was thinking about trying the same ink without having to purchase from SU, shipping is just too much and I don't use SU cardstock, I prefer Gina K for card bases and DCWV for layering..
Does anyone know who makes SU ink?

Thanks
Sheena

I made a card by inking the CB folder with Papertrey's hybrid pigment ink (the new formulation) and it worked great. It smooshed nicely and dried very quickly. I don't remember having to heat set it all. You can see it on my blog here.

HTH!

I'm sorry, but I don't know who manufacturers SU ink.

That being said, I have used SU classic ink for CB folders with good results. Examples from my gallery:

I made a Christmas card inking the folder first with Colorbox Gold Pigment and embossed on Real Red. It turned out beautiful to start with but six months later when I happened to look back at this design, the gold pigment ink had tarnished, turned black and didn't look good at all.

Unfortunately I didn't upload this card to my gallery before I sent it, but I used a Memento Dew Drop (which is dye ink) and it turned out fine.

I've had great results using dye inks from Close To My Heart. I assume that any dye ink would work just as well.
