I love my new VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink pad! Love the way it stamps so cleanly, pops those sentiments up in exquisite contrast!
But yesterday I stamped a little stack of images from a new stamp set. Nocturne ink on Neenah Classic Crest.
This afternoon, I just started play coloring with Copics on one of those pieces stamped last evening. The sweet little stamps face is smeared with black!! Smeared hairline, eyebrows, eyes & mouth! The only thing I have colored is his cute little face ... and have stopped to say What Happened Here? - before I dash out to get to an appointment! Arrrggghhhhhh!
I'm not "angry" ... but have I misunderstood this ink? Shouldn't it be Copic-friendly and watercolor-friendly??? Gah! Hate that I must "type & go" ... but please don't advise that I must heat-set after 18-24 hours .... :(
I only use the regular VersaFine regular onyx pad for watercoloring and use the Memento tuxedo black ink for copics. I do not have any of the VersaFine Clair so someone else will have to chime in at some point to clarify.
Versafine Clair ink isn’t a hybrid and is water based, not Copic friendly. Did you try embossing it? They’re wonderful inks, I love them too! I wonder if the ink will last as long as their original Black Onyx?

:oops: So I've read ... after joyfully stamping 2 complete stamp sets in 3's of each image! :lol:
Time to roll out my pencils & gamsol for 'color therapy'.

Heat embossing Versafine Clair will not make it Copic Friendly, based on my experience with heat embossing regular Versafine (also a pigment ink like Nocturne). Copics, being alcohol based, melt/eat through the embossing.
If you are very, very careful and make sure to not touch the embossed lines with the Copic marker, you can color the image without smearing....it is not easy, but it is do-able.

Since Gamsol is a solvent, won't it smear too? It seems that I had that problem, so I switched to Memento for Gamsol applications and only use water-based products with Versafine. Maybe I'm mistaken, though...

I opted to just use those pieces for Copic color-sampling for other projects, skipping the use of these images altogether. Life is short. Move along & use Plan B. :lol:
