Default using vellum quotations on cards

Hi All,

I have mistakenly bought vellum quotations thinking they were rub ons ! I don't know how to attach them to my cards or chip board pieces with out it looking tacky. Any suggestions ?

I'd use either brads or eyelets to attach them to the card rather than adhesive because adhesive usually shows through. If you have a Xyron you can run the quotation through and then mount on cardstock - the adhesive might still show through but at least it will be relatively consistent vs. a line of adhesive.

Glue dots for vellum work very well with these, it is the first truly invisible adhesive I have found for vellum. I have several tablets of these and have used them on cards also. Or as Kelly suggested use brads or eyelets. If you don't have access to any glue dots, you could use regular adhesive and then cover it up with some punches or stickers that match your card theme.

Default vellum

I always use my xyron tape machine...there are many different sizes to choose from depending on how much you will use it...It really comes in handy..I think the 510 is a great size for most people. It is a bit pricy but once you use it you will wonder how you made it without one...I use it to cover chipboard, run fabric through it, tiny things you name it ...there are different types of adhesive, for cards I like the permanent.
good luck..
there is also velum tape you can use, but i could always see mine and ended up making like a paper frame to go around it.

I have used photo corners to attach them. It was in a scrapbook though so I knew it would not fall off.

Duh! I have purchased the quote sheets too and have a 510 Xyron. I tried every suggested way of sticking the quotes but didn't like the look or my card did not call for brads, eyelets, etc. After I read these suggestions I thought soooooo why can't we just Xyron the whole sheet, mine are about 4x5, and just cut and use them as I need them.

You can use a small amount of adhesive and put a photo corner over it or a flower. Brads work very well too.

I have used brad's and eyelets too, but I just found a tape I really like and it does not show through the vellum. It is 3M Scotch brand tape for vellum. I have used the tape several times now and have had no problems with it. Also it is not to badly priced.

Default attaching vellum quotes

Stitching around the quote gives it a very nice finish as well..or using a corner slot punch looks neat too!!

This product is wonderful! I use a stylus to gently but firmly rub the area where the adhesive is and find it is barely visible, even on textured paper.

Default Adhesive for vellum quotes

I have some vellum tape, that works real well and I got it at a scrapbook store. Archiver's might have it, they carry a ton of adhesives.

I love these quotes and use them often I am really sentimental and some of the sayings or poems for babies are really sweet.

I like the Scotch vellum tape and the vellum glue dots. With the latter, I sandwich the vellum between the adhesive sheet and the protective sheet and burnish with my bone folder to get the best application.

Other ideas: Use a double rectangle or double hole punch through yhe quotw and background or mat and thread with ribbon. Glue ribbon along two or more edges or wrap ribbon diagonally (page 150a spring/summer 2008 catty) to form photo corners. Place adhesive under punched photo corners. Apply stickers, flowers, rhinestones, buttons or other bellies over the edges and hide the adhesive undeneath. Sew on by machine or by hand using a paper piercer to make the stitches even. Tuck the vellum under the edges of the background or a mat cut with the slit punch. Use paper clips, staples or library clips. Sew buttons through the vellum into mat or background.

Punch 2 or more holes with the horizontal slot punch on opposite sides, thread with ribbon. All ribbon ends extend away from the quote and are secured to the background or tuck under the mat. Just be careful not to pull the ribbon too tight.

Besides eyelets, brads or running through a xyron I have also used adhesive spray in a can, and find it works a treat.

I find too, that I love the CM Frosted Splits, I didn't have too much luck with the 3M Scotch Vellum tape, it always showed up.

But whatever tape you end up using, try using the back of your thumb nail to rub the tape down well with over the vellum. This doesn't scratch the vellum, you don't have to worry about how hard you are pushing etc, & you know you have good contact with your card.
