They recommend that you rub an eraser over them before using them to remove any manufacturing residue (I've never had to do this) that might cause the ink to bead up.
The type of ink you have will give varying results. I have had better luck with pigment inks (Brilliance, Colorbox) , but the dye inks (Stampin' Up, Andirondack) seem to work well also.
Don't press too hard, and give it a minute to soak into the paper.
#1 Tip - Stamp with some kind of cushion underneath clear stamps. They need cushioning, too. CTMH stamps all come with a foam pad to place under your paper and stamp on. It makes a big difference
I have heard of the eraser thing, but haven't tried on my clear stamps, just my rubber ones. However, my first experience with clears was similar to yours and I used my spray mist and stamp scrubber on the stamp and went it again and it was PERFECT!
I've also found that the paper you stamp on makes a HUGE difference - I often use non-SU white C/S for non-SU related things or personal use. I stamped identical images on both my non-SU cardstock and then also on WW SU c/s using exactly the same ink and have tried it with several different stamps. the images on the WW look MUCH sharper with less beading up - try it out and see what you think. also putting versamark on your stamp 1st THEN immediately inking with whatever ink you want to use helps the ink stick a bit more too. HTH!
I do a combo...I scrub with an eraser or sand block, then I lean it with the scrubber and spray, then I do a few practice images until it looks good.
I also use foam underneath the cs, just like CTMH. I agree that colorbox chalk inks work the best.
I loved your video, JanaOlivera! It really helped me to see how much pressure you were using. And it was very helpful to me to see the difference in time and pressure between the Flourishes stamp and the Michael's $1 stamp. Wow! There's just nothing like a demonstration!
My expieriance with the cheapy Mike's Stamps is that nothing can help them.. you really need quality if you don't like the beading. Now with Autumn leaves, and K&Company all the above tricks worked. hth.;)
Is the foam that CTMH uses under the cardstock like the foam that goes under the Coluzzle? What padding does CTMH use? I'm not familiar with their stuff.
what type of ink are you using? Also, some clear stamps are made from Silicone and they bead horribly, so you need to lightly sand them. Photopolymer clear stamps don't need sanding... but there are a few really watery inks out there that just bead... even on rubber. I LOVE Vivid dye ink by Clearsnap for my clear stamps!
