I purchased my first acrylic stamps a few days ago and used them for the first time last night. I am not so sure I like them....may need some help.
On the bold, broad, filled images when I ink them up real good and stamp them, it's not a solid image but a mottled kind of looking image...almost like I spritzed with water before stamping. Also, on the line art, I'm not getting a good crisp image. I thought maybe it would be from some type of treatment the images receive at the factory, so I washed them up real good, but it didn't seem to help any.
Is there something special I need to do to these stamps to get the images more crisp and solid?

Try rubbing an eraser on them to remove any kind of residue it may have. Remember to clean really well or there will be "eraser lint" on your stamp. I have just tried "Chalk Ink" on my acrylics and the image was really good. Also I have noticed with acrylic solid stamps just keep stamping and this will help the conditioning process. Good luck
The quality makes a big difference...what company are your stamps from? There are certain types of ink that will work best with clear stamps, but the high quality ones should accept all types of ink. For the cheap $1 stamps from Michael's & Joann's, I would recommend pigment ink or chalk ink.
I really like chalk inks with any acrylic stamps, but as the post above says, higher quality acrylics can handle any ink.

Quality makes the biggest difference. I have used SU classic ink without a lot of problems. I also put a piece of foam under what I am stamping on. This little bit of cushion makes a difference I think. I use either fun foam (the thicker kind), an old mouse pad, or even the coluzzle mat.

Most of the time I use staz-on. I noticed my acrylics get yellow when I use SU basic black, but the staz-on cleans very well. I thought that was weird
