Trying to choose my first set of sentiments stamps, could use advice!
I would like to get a good starter set with a nice variety so I don't have to run out next week when I decide I want a congrats stamp as well, or whatever. I was thinking of going clear only because I'm new at this and thought it might be easier to line up than wood mounted stamps.
I'm thinking of the Mixed Messages (or Mega Mixed Messages) from Papertrey Ink. If I go this route, would you recommend the regular set or the Mega? Does this look like I good set to start with? I was thinking that if I get this one, I might also get Papertrey's Daily Designs set because it looks very versatile as well.
I love the Mega Mixed Messages as the Mixed Messages are too small for my liking. Another great mixed set is Everyday Sayings by Hero Arts. It also has a great variety.

Any other suggestions are welcome, too!
I have the Mega Mixed Messages and like them a lot and use them often. The size is great to use as a sentiment on card fronts. The Mixed Messages is smaller and a good size to use on die cut pieces, tags and smaller areas but I have not purchased this set as I have several other small sentiments.
I really like the variety of sentiments and fonts in the Mixed Messages sets. I have both, and I use them both.
Perhaps you could take a look at card designs you like here in the galleries and see what sizes of sentiments you seem to be drawn to -- it might help you to decide which way to go.
I was supposed to go to an open to the public SU demonstration last week where a lot of newbies were supposed to be coming, but it was canceled due to weather. I had a suggestion I wanted to share.
My thought was, to help with the initial cost of getting into stamping, to print various sentiments, various fonts & sizes in a word document. Divide the document into 3 columns in tools and just type away till you had the page full of sentiments you thought you might use over time and that could be cut to size as you needed them.
But I never got to share my cost saving idea. Maybe next time.

Great idea. I have a bunch of sentiments saved in my computer, and when I need one that is not usually available in a stamp, I do type them in a pleasing font and cut them out.
But sometimes I don't want to have to go to my computer, load cardstock in printer, etc. and just want to grab a stamp and be done with it. I have quite a few sets of "all purpose" sentiment stamps that I use a lot.

One could also use the Graffix rub-on transparency to print out sentiments. You print them out on the transparency and can then use it as a rub-on. Hence it allows more flexibility with regards to placement.
I have been wanting to buy this transparency but didn't see it locally available around here.
has anyone tried this? i've had this in my favorites just for that purpose - to make a whole page of sentiments in the fonts and colors i like and would use often. but i just never got around to it.

It'll be fun to see if this works. The possibilities are endless.

I've tried it, and it works great! Especially for sentiments.
I have PTI's Mixed Messages and Mega Mixed Messages, and love them both and use both equally. I also love PTI's Signature Greetings. I also like Hero Arts "All Occasion Messages" and "Everyday Sayings", both of which will give you variety.
