Default Top Note Die Layering Question

Okay, a few weeks ago someone asked how to get rid of the ridges from layering the Top Note die. Someone answered to use sandpaper. I have seen a lot of layering and want to be sure that I understand what you guys are doing. Are you really trimming the perforations with a pair of scissors and then sanding the edges of the cut piece? That seems like it would take a lot of time. How hard is it?

I have trimmed mine with both scissors and a craft knife. I work better with scissors but to me I think the craft knife made a cleaner cut on the perforations so I've done that more. I use the SU! sanding block and quickly run it over the perferated edge. I use my fingers to wipe off the excess. It really doesn't take any time at all. I then ink the edges. Also, when I use the craft knife, I keep the trim whole and have placed it on top of a different colored top note and layered that way. Make sense? HT Andrea

I use scissors too (really sharp Paper Snips) and it goes quickly--especially since it's already perforated. I use the Sanding Blocks to smooth out any rough edges. It's worth the little time since it's such a cool look!

Good idea of saving the edge piece by using a craft knife.

I use paper snips and instead of trimming on the performations, I trim just a tad inside. That leaves a smooth cut and no sanding is needed!
