There are plenty of people who can't seem to wait to get their markers, but nobody coming forward to say how wonderful, how special or how different they are.
One person did say they were no different from other water-based markers, except when used on some specialized high-price paper. And that makes me wonder if all the other water-based markers would work the same on that special paper.
I am so glad that I don't need to have the latest and greatest of anything. I prefer to sit back and read the feedback before spending a small fortune on something that may or may not be the next Tim Holtz gift to crafters.
Oh, I have them! They seem very nice to me - I've only had a few misc. markers before. The Special Stamping paper is La Blanche paper. I take it you're not a TH fan! LOL
I think the main draw for me to get the markers is the fact they match all the distress ink pads...and I'm one of those stqmpers that love things all match match! Lol. I can't wait to get them!

Actually, I am a Tim Holtz fan. I LOVE his grungy style!
But I also understand that him lending his name to products is a business decision, one designed to make money for him, Sizzix, Ranger and whoever else he partners with. Just because a product has his name on something doesn't make it worth its weight in gold.

I was just teasing - I saw TH stuff in your gallery. Marketing with celebrities is everywhere and it doesn't always make the product better. At least we know Tim develops/uses his products.

Be warned that the distress markers dont necessarily exactly match the distress inks Catdidit. We've identified two markers so far which dont seem to match properly, Broken China and Fired Brick (refer other threads mentioned above). Dont get me wrong, I'm a TH fan and love his distress inks, but people should be aware that the markers dont necessarily match the ink pads exactly which is a shame and the reason I was going to buy the markers too. I'd dont have all the markers, and it would be terrific is someone who did could confirm how many other markers dont match the ink pads.
I think there will be a big difference between the TH markers and regular water based markers. The TH markers are are designed to be used with water and be blended with the colors not getting muddy, while the regular markers don't really do this as well. I also think the key to these markers is the water brush so the colors can be blended. .
Think of these like you would Distressed Inks... sure, you can stamp an image with them but the real magic is how they blend with each other and their reaction to water.

I just saw another Distress Markers thread in Rubberstamping, and according to a post there, TH confirmed that mainly the Reds don't match, an issue they are aware of.
I do love them. I love the distress line and use them wet and they work great. Yes, they are pricey, but then I have accumulated all the inks so they work together great. yes, the reds are the ones that don't match for me,but in class he said they are aware and they are a hard color to "match"..I don't mind the variation in color. I have been posting pics from the class..You can see what they look like if you want. I can compare them to tombo as I don't have any of them.
Sorry to hear you are still waiting. I am curious how this works as the stores in NY I go too got more in. I just used them last night for a card for a man and had a blast as I could color and distress and I could control the mess of my space (I am a messy distressor!!)
Same here! I think that might be another reason that there haven't been many posts with people talking up these markers - loads of us that ordered them in the full canisters don't HAVE them yet! Sigh.
