Default Things to do with a Crimper

Seems like this poor little tool gets a bad name so I thought it would be nice to have a thread of things to do with a crimper so we can all justify having the little tool around ;) and to find new techniques that we might not have tried. I'm all about finding uses for things I already own since my crafting budget is very minimal. Many of the ideas are found here at SCS

1. Making paper filler for packages--cut your paper into strips, run it through you crimper and you have bag or box filler (good use for that paper you don't really care for too)

2. Crimped Diamond

3. Sour Cream Container

4. Tree

5. Crinkled Ribbon by stamphappy1650

6. Crimped Envelope Pocket Card

7. Cupcake Base

8. Top of a stocking

9. Flowers on Lovenstamps blog

10. Making cute belly bands

Alrighty--I got us started now please add your favorite uses or just ones that you have found that you want to try sometime soon. Can't wait to see what you have to share.

I don't have anything to add right now, since I don't own a crimper. But I intend to remedy that situation very quickly with the next Michaels coupon I can find.

Thanks for starting this list. I KNEW I needed a crimper, just not why I needed it.

Wow! Thanks much, Bound4london! Quite a long time ago I bought a crimper for $3 at a garage sale. I kind of forgot I had one. I sure appreciate all the awesome things I can use this tool for. I do know, but don't have link to a project, that you can crimp your punched leaves and gosh does that ever add the neatest texture!

Thanks again! I will be using my crimper now.

bound4london, thanks so much for starting this thread. I have a crimper and I really only use it for sour cream containers.

I have read that many crimp the piece of CS that they insert into the envelope for mailing when they have a card that has bulky embellishments. I have not tried it yet but I have been meaning to.

Thanks for the fun topic!

Here are a few more ideas on my blog:

Candy Bar Wrappers (perfect with Valentine's Day coming up!)

Adding a pretty covered spine to Spiral Notebooks

Snowman Treat Packets (especially since 1/2 the country is covered by snow... we're getting MORE right now here in central illinois!)

And my favorite all-time crimper use: Wheeled Lunch Bags

I also found a fabulous list of 40+ ideas on a SCS thread--scroll down to a great post by miggie

Thanks lovenstamps--great ideas and great links!

I found the tutorial--or someone else found it for me--for the ruffled scallop edge

I've also run die cut flowers thru the crimper in multiple directions to break down the fibers before building the flowers. Makes for a soft look on the flowers.

Here is an example if the above makes no sense! LOL!

I love these uses of the crimper, I remember someone saying to use it for mail purposes which I always do. The mail lady at the post office always feels my card, but has yet to charge me extra for 'lumps and bumps'

Run your paper through it twice at different angles to make the waffle texture on an ice cream cone. Yum!

I do this with my crimper and it's fabulous! Helps even out the embellishments you put on cards so that they will not tear the envelopes when they run through the post office machines.
