Default Tarnishing silver spiral clips?

Is there a way to tarnish or "dirty" silver spiral clips? I ran out of the clips in my Hodgepodge Hardware set, but I found some spiral S clips and they are bright silver. I need to make them look vintage. Any suggestions? TIA!

Try Alcohol Inks by Ranger. You can use them to change the color of any non-porous object. You can also try smooshing the clip into your Versamark pad, covering it with embossing powder in your desired color, and using your heat gun to melt the powder (use tweezers though to save your fingers!). I haven't tried this, but since it works with brads, it might also work with clips!

Alcohol Inks! They work fantastic for distressing and vintage looks!

Thanks, ladies! I've never used alcohol inks, so maybe I'll give that a try. I want the clips to be a dull silver or a pewter color, so I think black would be too harsh for what I'm doing. But if the alcohol inks come in a range of colors, that may be the way to go. Will it rub off, though?

if you drag the clip in the stazon the entire thing will not get black, just the surface. and you can use your finger to wipe some off. you could always try one- if you dont like the look then use it for a different project.

the alcohol inks come in lots of colors and it wont rub off of metal once dried.

you could try a krylon paint pen also. I used a copper color one to turn the hinges and hardware of a metal tin into a copper finish.

You could try soaking them in Coke! That seems to eat the finish off of everything.
