What would you recommend for tape runners? Hosting a Stamp class and would like to use some thing that’s on the cheap site but reliable. Also, where do you normally buy it?
You can buy 4-packs of AdTech tape runner dispensers almost everywhere (Amazon, WalMart, box stores) and I frequently use refills of Elmer’s Craft Bond in them. Very affordable.
I liked the $1 Crafters Companion at Dollar General, but these have become impossible to find in our region.

Although I no longer provide the adhesive for my classes, I used to provide Scotch Double Sided tape. I found it was less likely for someone to have a problem using that tape.

There is also a less-expensive-than-Scotch-brand double sided tape available at W*Mart, which I have used. It works well. It is quite possibly the same adhesive, relabeled, as there is a 3M production plant in Springfield, MO, within 100 miles of the W*Mart headquarters in Bentonville, AR. When he was alive, Sam’s philosophy was support local. Maybe some of his philosophy has carried over.
I'm another who uses Ad Tech, bought online at Amazon, also refills same place. The group I used to go to, the demo provided glue sticks. I know a lot of stampers frown on glue sticks, but those projects have never fallen apart, years later, where things made with runner tape self destruct often within months.
I have begun using a tape runner called E-Z Runner by Scrapbook Adhesives. I had used an ATG exclusively for probably 15 years but over the past year I can NOT get refills that load properly and the tape has become so thin, I believe that is why. I've got at least a dozen rolls here from Scotch and as many from Tape Depot as well. What a waste of money! I've had very good luck with the E-Z Runner. I get it in packages of 6 from Amazon and I've also bought it from Scrapbook.com. The size of the tape runner is comparable to the Tombow Mono Adhesive but the tape holds much better. HTH

I've never tried E-Z Runner but the vellum adhesive tape runner by the same company (Scrapbook Adhesives) is amazing!! It's truly invisible!

Not particularly lower cost, but I am still loyal to Creative Memories tape runner--and they also have a very good vellum product. For cost reduction times, I use Scrappy Tape--order from ScrapbookPal.com, who has amazing, super fast shipping. Free shipping is available if you order a certain amount (which is no problem, as I order large quantities for my craft group).
I'm still addicted to my ATG. Like Claudia, I became frustrated with the 3M refills a few years back and when someone suggested Tape Depot, I ordered and have been very happy, just ordered 12 refills in December. You do have to be very gentle with the inital pulling off but knock wood no other problems.
I also use Tombow's blue tape runner, but am saving this thread to try the Ad Tech and E-Z Runner.
Another thumb's up here for Scrapbook Adhesives! I use their vellum runner, their mounting squares and their adhesive dots (which are my fave glue dots, love how they come off the roll and seem more pliable than other brands).
And yes, glue sticks are indispensible. I've become an Elmer's fan after many years with Uhu.

Very possible as I checked what was made there and adhesives was one of the products. I checked because I was curious. My hometown, Hutchinson, MN makes over half the adhesives 3M ships worldwide. Working there in the summer is how a paid for a large chunk of my college tuition. It was a twelve hour swing shift. It was not fun, but the pay was good.

I have used E-Z runner for many years. I used to buy it at Archivers or other scrapbook stores. I’m thrilled it’s sold on Amazon now. It’s my favorite adhesive and I’ve tried plenty over the last 26 years.
I have a whole passel of these and have used them for years...when I want a tape runner. I usually use glue. These runners are reasonably priced and stick really well. This is a Joann's listing, but I bought mine at Walmart.

I don't like cheap runners. aThe adtech is stringy. When ai had to do a class on card making, the group supplied scotch double sided tape with cheap tape holders.
