I'm ready to buy an ATG gun and some tape and have been reading about the good deals on tape from the tape depot site. I see they have a gun for $25. That beats the heck out of the price of the 3M one everywhere I've shopped. Has anyone bought or had experience with the TD gun? I don't want to order it if it's not of good quality. Your help would be appreciated.
I can't speak to the gun, but I recently purchased the adhesive to work in my ATG 714 and it is AWESOME. Based on the quality of the adhesive and the great customer service, I wouldn't hesitate to give the gun a try if I didn't already have one.
I was all set to order it, but I'm confused about which tape works with it. The 7502 tape says, "3/4 & 3/8'' FIT THE ATG-50 DISPENSER". I want the equivalent of the 714 and want the 1/4" tape. I sent them an email to them and am waiting for a response.
Let us know what you learn. I'd also be ordering the 714 equivalent. I couldn't tell from their picture if it has a trigger mechanism just like the 3M or not. Having never used the 3M one, I don't really know what to look for to make a comparison.
Just wondering if you ordered the Tape Depot gun and if so, what do you think? Which tape did you buy? It is hard to tell on the site which tape to get.
Please check this thread for more info on the Tape Depot products. I know it's a long thread, but there is a lot of info about the tapes and the ATG. Many of us have been encouraged to buy the TD ATG. It's awesome considering the price.
I bought the ATG-50 and it works fine for me. My only issue was trying to load the tape when I first got it. I am having problems with the tape not rolling off the gun consistently. It might just be that I'm in Hawaii and its super hot and very humid today.
I got the ATG 50 and their tape. I had a little problem at first with the tape not spooling tightly on the small wheel for used tape. A couple of times there was a loop of tape that found it's way back to the front of the gun. I just unwound the tape and broke off the part that had been used and reinserted the end in the take up wheel slots. Seems to be working just fine now. I'm hoping it doesn't slip off the wheel since there's no guard to hold the used tape in place. I can always unwind, break off, and start over again. I really like the gun and am so glad that I bought it. I couldn't justify the price of the 3M one.
