Question Suggestions please

I'm looking for recommendations for a paper trimmer that can be used to make a 15 inch cut. I want to diagonally cut 8.5 X 11 cardstock and my 12 inch trimmers won't make the cut. Thanks for any recommendations.

I would recommend you look into the Dahle brand. If there is a trimmer that size, i think they would be the most likely. However, they are not ordinary, which means they are pricey. You might check with a print shop and have them make the cuts. I take a ream of cardstock and have them cut it to A6 size and get charged only $7,. it's a 5 minute thing and well worth the price because I've never had a tirimmer, including the Genesis, as accuate as the print shop.

Unless it's a lot of cardstock you have to cut, I would use a ruler and a craft knife. I have an 18" ruler, and I'm pretty sure you can find them easily.

I have a swingline brand guillotine that cuts up to 15". Got it off Amazon about 3 years ago and I don't remember it being hideously expensive. I'm not sure a guillotine style is what you had in mind, but it's one to think about.

I'd use a long ruler and craft knife too. The only cutter I have that would accommodate larger lengths like that is a mat cutter.

Default 15" paper trimmer

I would agree that if you don't use the 15" paper trimmer very often, use a ruler and cut it out with scissors. I use my quilting sewing ruler and pencil to cut this size out. I have tried using the rotary Fischar cutter which works well but since the rotary cutter blades are rather expensive, I stick with scissors. I love using my quilting sewing rulers for this kind of project.

Default Paper cutter 15"

If you don't want to buy a cutter, I would suggest going to either Staples, or Office Depot and in their photo area, they have large paper cutters you can use for a minimal cost.

HI!

I have a Dahle guillotine cutter. Yes, it is an investment, but it is self-sharpening and will last you a lifetime. I don't regret that purchase at all. Recently, (very recently) I bought a cutter/scorer from Stampin Up that has an arm to extend it's capacity to 17". It was recommended by a very well known paper artist. I haven't tried it yet, but It seems to be exactly what I need to make those very long cuts. Good luck. I hope you find something useful for you.

You are lucky, Linda. I sent my over $500 Dahle back because it wasn't cutting straight, and they said it was "within industry standards" and wouldn't give me my money back.

Hi Bahb!

My Dahl wasn't near that expensive. However, in shipping it did get out of alignment. I called them and they walked me through the steps to align it and now it's just fine.
