A Substitute for the Top Note Die

I was considering purchasing the top note die since seeing so many great projects being made with it. But I discovered that my Cricut Accent Essentials cartridge has that same shape. Or pretty darn close to it. Plus I can cut the shadow for that shape and cut it in any size I want instead of being limited to the size of the die. If you have this cartridge, or are considering getting it, choose image 48 shift set at 3.5" to get the "pretty darn close to the top note" diecut.

I've cut one and traced it for use with the Wishblade - it cuts great and looks just like the die cut except the perforations are quite as small.

I don't have that cartridge...but I am holding out for the Nestabilities Label One set...looks like the same shape, but with a BUNCH of sizes for $20! It looks like it's square instead of more rectangle, but I just can't see spending that much money on ONE shape in ONE size!

If I use the Cricut, how do I get the perferations?

Sorry, no perferations. Just the basic shape. But if you already own this cartridge, then you can save yourself the $22 for the die. I just used this cut for a card (not yet posted) and I just drew faux stitching around the edges to look like the perferations.

Susan...you Rock! I too have been wistfully looking at that die (don't own a BigShot so it would be much more than $10) BUT I do have an Expression AND this cartridge.

So that makes it FREE for me right?

the great thing is how easy it is to cut the multiples and be able to mat them all...Awesome cartridge.

I had the same thought. Is the one called mega nestabilities (or something like that)? I saw it over @ 7kids on preorder - will be relased late this month.

I LOVE this Frank!! Great idea about the Cricut Accent shape.
That NOSE is a tricky use for a tab punch. I LIKE it!! And using
dimenstionals for the eyelids and nose ads life to the face!

I have read that it's not available unless you buy the expression, but I got mine on ebay for just $40. There were lots available too. And, even thought the top note knock off is a cool reason to get the cartridge, it has lots of other cool shapes too.

of the 11 cart I do have don't have accent essentials. Guess I will have to go shopping. hehe Thanks for the idea love the top note had it on my wishlist but think I will replace it with this cart.

I purchased the K&Company chipboard "Naked Tag Pad" ring at Michael's. I also have the Accent Essentials, but I had fun sponging this chipboard.
