Default SU Tulip folder - how do you get it lined up right?

Any tips for that Framed Tulip folder that was in the SU "Occasions" mini? I can't get the thing lined up so the frame comes out centered evenly on the front. I've gone through I don't know how much cardstock trying to get it to look right. Maybe I'm trying to make it "too perfect" but it never looks centered.

Do you score and fold the card before embossing? Tips on getting the lined centered on the card front?

I don't emboss on the base layer. For an A2 size card, I would cut either 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 or 5 1/4 x 4 and run that through the BS with the folder. Then adhere that piece on top of the base. I also check the back side of the embossing folder just to make sure I have the paper positioned just right before closing it and running it through.

I completely understand your frustration! I have scored and folded a card and then embossed half of it with this folder. I unfolded the card, put the one half of it into the embossing folder -- aligning the edges carefully by peeking through the embossing folder to the cardstock -- then closed the folder, letting the plain half of the card hang free, and run it through my Big Kick. You could use some removable tape to hold the card in place when embossing if necessary.
